Wiz and Jordan agree to deal
The Washington Wizards and coach Eddie Jordan have agreed on a contract extension for Jordan that will be announced soon, possibly today, The Washington Times has learned.
The deal will pay Jordan approximately $12.5 million over three guaranteed seasons. The team will have the option for a fourth, according to team and league sources reached yesterday.

Am I the only one who thinks $4 million a year is steep for a coach who hasn't won a championship?

Re: Wiz and Jordan agree to deal
I've never really been a fan of Eddie Jordan. Sure, he's coached us to two straight playoff appearences, but with the talent we had it wasn't very hard. Since Arenas is attached to him then I guess I'll just have to force myself to like him.
The contract doesn't seem that bad for me. I've seen worse contracts for coaches.

He coached the Nets to two NBA Finals while Scott was busy playing golf instead of breaking down film.

4 million dollars/per for a mediocre coach is just plain ridiculous.

Re: Wiz and Jordan agree to deal
I don't think he's a great coach but what do you expect out of a team that has nothing at PF/C? What do you honestly expect? I don't think many coaches could turn the Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison show into an elite team.
At least you guys have stability with your coach. Better than firing him and signing another average coach that won't do any better.

Should be fired, Wizards team is stuck and can't improve unless a drastic change in philosophy occurs.
Eddie Fired, Jamison moved, have a really bad season and into the lottery for a year than bounce back with Noah or Oden in the pivot with some perimeter defenders on board maybe then can they take a step up.

I don't know about Jordan, but Ernie has quietly stocked the team with several contracts that will be hard to get rid of. I think that's the main problem in moving forward.
Nice to see you around, jazzy!

Yeah I've been real busy, but got some time now to get caught up on whats wong with the Wizards. Contracts are idiotic I'd say these players have bad ones for their overall value, Etan, Jamison, Daniels, Songaila, Butler.
Offense 1st mindset of EJ has the team stuck behind top 4 teams in East. And I'd imagine the Bucks and Raptors are gaining fast.
Should have dumped EJ,would have been the perfect time to do so. But they Gotta dump Jamison after this season. Should have tried trading him last season, maybe we can move him this season and basically tank the season. I don't say that easily but we have no other way to get in the title mix unless something changes to add a real post presence on both ends and a perimeter defensive philosphy. EJ just does't believe in defense, our offensive tempo is too high which creates easy offense for opponents.

I'd agree on all those contracts. Butler is probably slightly overpaid, but he's good and he's young so I'm not considering it a really big issue.
Not sure I agree on EJ... I tend to think he's doing the best with what he's got to work with. Give him some more defensive-minded players and then maybe they'll be a better defensive team. I mean, maybe a really really good coach could instill that mindset, but those coaches are few and far between. If we dumped EJ, there's no guarantee we'd do better, and I don't think there's a lot of guys out there who will make a guy like Jamison a good defender.

I agree about Jamison, but Arenas doesnt even try competing on d and JJ and haywood who could be solid defenders if they were forced into a slower tempo more physical style.
Butler compete's hard and is physical but at the 2 spot just doesn't have the footspeed.
EJ has never been a defensive minded coach the idea of hiring a defensive assistant reveals that. That would be an embarrasing thing to have thrown about for some coaches.
EJ should go, they could bring in Stan Van Gundy to bring A tougher mindset to this bunch.

Going to a slower tempo style nearly negates the advantages Arenas give the Wizards. Certainly they can become more physical, but they still need to be uptempo
