Re: Wizards Sign Songaila
I like this deal for the Wiz. It will allow them to go big with Jamison at the 3 and Darius at the 4.

Re: Wizards Sign Songaila
I see Songaila coming off the bench to give Jamison a breather. Playing Jamison at the 3 is a good idea to save him some wear and tear. Still, a that frontcourt will have problems defensively, as will any frontcourt with Jamison.

Agreed. I didn't mean they would play that way full time, but rather for stretches in the game. It seems to me the Wizards have Pecherov as their PF of the future and Blatche as their SF of the future. A Darius and Jamison front court is essentially a shorter version.

Re: Wizards Sign Songaila
On paper he looks very solid in the passive offence that coach Jordan likes to run. For how bad they needed a big-man I don't see the contract being THAT bad. Nice job.

Re: Wizards Sign Songaila
Meh. As primarily a Bulls fan, I don't think I would have been too happy if the Bulls gave Songaila $4M to start. It's not awful, and he's a solid player, but it's at the upper end of reasonable for him.
He'll be decent for the Wiz, but here's the deal on him. He's unathletic. Not a great defender or rebounder, but he does try. Point his, he doesn't really address the Wiz' most glaring need.
Where he'll fit with the Wiz is that he's legitimately got 4 size, he can pass and shoot. EJ ought to be able to do good things with him.
So it's good to have him, but not that good. I'm really glad the Wiz didn't give the MLE to DeShawn Stevenson. I might have cried if that happened.

Re: Wizards Sign Songaila
Primarily as a Bulls fan, it was hard to watch the team when he was on the court. He's big, but doesn't really play big. He lacks athleticism, and the knee brace he wore didn't help. He's slow as molasses. he started the season opener for the bulls and got plenty of PT. He went down with an injury and the bulls immediately made a strong finish to make the playoffs. I think it was no coincidence.
Speaking of injuries... is he going to wear a knee brace on top of his knee brace this season?

Re: Wizards Sign Songaila
They needed a big man and he was one of the best available, so it's a good signing.

Terrible signing, light on boards, can't move or jump, can only shoot the face up terrible move, better trying to get sweetney from Bulls than this.

This guy is a straight up punk or am I confusing him with someone else from Wake Forest? I don't think I am.

You better elaborate on straight up punk thing, because you must be confusing him with someone else. In NBA standards Darius is a very calm guy, just got baby girl in the eve of New Year and is a family guy. I dont remember anything punk from him during his whole career.
