Jamison's has a player option for the 07-08 season for 16 million. I can't see him not picking it up because no one would pay him more than that. However, do you think the Wizards will attempt to sign him to an extension prior to it expiring or another contract after it expires? Or will the Wizards look to move him before that to get some value for him?

I think it depends on how well the Wiz do this season or at least the first half. If they do well I could see them letting him pick up his option and then resigning but if they do poorly I think they will try to trade him by the deadline and get some value.

It all depends one the type of season the Wizards have. If we have another medicore season like the past two seasons then I don't think we will pick him up. The Wizards will probably want to go into a different -- and cheaper -- direction.

If we could the Wizards should not pick up his option. Let him become a FA and if Jamison is willing, sign for a cheaper contract. He would be a solid 6th man in years to even when he's old. The Wizards should then pursue a defensive forward. This would make the team better as a whole.

I don't have a really good sense of what the Wiz could get by trading him. There are any number of guys with longer contracts I wouldn't like to have (KMart, Zach Randolph, etc).

Jamison's a really nice player (and a good guy off the court, which is worth something) at the right price. His current price isn't the right price though, so anyone who's looking to acquire him will be giving us back something even worse.

Or a complete salary dump for an expiring contract?
