Revenge?
Did Pollins plan this all along?
Sam Smith:
Pollin, 79, one of the league's longest-serving owners and close to Commissioner David Stern, was a member of the owners' negotiating committee in 1998 during the bitter lockout. In one session, Jordan singled out Pollin as being out of step with the times and suggested he sell his franchise. Pollin, an unusually civic-minded owner, never forgot.
