How good will Kwame be next year?

I've heard lots of talk about Kwame having a break out season next year. Due to the fact that MJ won't be there. I've always liked this guy, he's got great potential and looks like he could be putting up 15/10 in the near future (if given the minutes).

I sure wish he'd just get more time, he's good but he's being benched for old folks like Christian Laetner (spelling?).

If I were Doug Collins, with the #1 pick in the 2001 pick Kwame Brown. I'd be playing this guy as if he were an All Star. I mean, the Wizards weren't going to the Playoffs so he might as well give Kwame some playing time for experience. Kwame has potential, he's tall, he's big, and he's got the fundamental skills one needs to become a great player...he just needs his playing time.

Thoughts?

It is the $64,000 question.

He has shown flashes that he can dominate. He has not been consistent, and he has not had consistent minutes because of it.

If his playing time is going to be tied to his consistency, we may ride this merry-go-round until he can show some level of consistency in his play.

If his playing time is consistent, he may learn to develop that consistency in his play.

There are no guarantees, either approach may be the correct one.

He'll turn out to be a really good player if given to the playin' time.. He needs to really get consistant with his game, n Collins needs to play him as a starter 'stead of the old guys 'coz he's the future of Wizards ...

Doug collins fault

I think the main reason some of thw wizards young guys aren't doing well is because doug collins is a bad coach!

They should fire him damnit!

secondly, yes i think next year kwame brown will do very well, he has already shown he can score and that he is a great defensive player, all he needs to do is be a more consistent shooter.

Also, you know who i think is going to be good next year... Jared Jefferies! i think he's going to be the next KG.

He'll be as good as Eddy Curry was this season.

Well, you've got your wish. Doug is out and I do believe the pressure is now off of Kwame to the point where he was extremely nervous everytime he went out on the floor. AS long as Stack continue to give him positive reinforcements, I think he's gonna be a very good player next season. Finally, I totally agree with you regarding Jared (except for the KG part). He will be phenomenal. I think the line-up should be like this next season...

PG - Juan/Hughes
SG - Stack/Hughes
SF - Jared/Russell
PF - Kwame/Jahidi
C - Laettner/Haywood/Etan

I think the draft will help the team moreso than free agency. I don't think many people want to go to Washington after the whole MJ deal.

Bullsfan here, but I'm a big Brown fan, and feel people undervalue him way too much...I see him at about 15/9/2 next year. When I watch him play, whether he does good or bad (stat wise), I see all the talent in the world. Just a matter of playin time.

Kwame will be fine as long as Stack does not hog the ball. The organization has to acknowledge their future in order to successfully rebuild. The last two years the future was never really Kwame but MJ's dream. If you look at it..Kwame is actually 1 year behind in development when compared to Curry and Chandler as far as PT goes. The new coach has to allow Kwame to make mistakes out on the court in order to learn from them. I think next year Kwame's line will look somewhere around 30-33 mpg, 10-13 ppg, 7-9 rpg, 1-2 apg.

I say Brown would be an All-Star in less than 5 years...

Yeah, definetly
I see him averaging 12 pts, 9 rbs, 52% FG if given proper minutes

Kwame averaged 7 attempts per game and average 7points. With a good point guard who will get him the ball in motion
(instead of having to post up every time) the kid will be a monster. Maybe Juan Carlos can help.

They HAVE to let the kid just play!!!!!!

If Kwame could make some open 5-10 feet jumpers you would have seen this guy averaging 20 points a game. If they gave him the ball more, even more points a game. What I notice about Kwame is he can make some really tough shots, what i also notice is that he can't hit spot up shots. the tough shots are the hard things to learn and hes got them down, he's been having problems with his spot ups because of his improved strength from high school. When he works on his shot and gets used to his strength ( maybe this year ) he'll be great!

everyone expects kwame to become jermaine oneil, but i think kwame could easily become ben wallace and 15pts. a game. i mean look at kwame he is already the biggest guy on the court. he blocks well, and if he could focus on the little things like hustle boxing out, and rebounding in general he could easily become the next ben wallace with more scoring potential. he isn't polished or graceful enough to mirror j.oneil's game.

It's very hard to be that kind of big man. But Kwame is a extremely great defender, they'll need a great point guard to have kwame be a great offender and defender. Barbosa's my pick!
