Stackhouse is middle of the road

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...-2003Jun4.html

At this point I think it depends on if the Wizards offer him an extension. I think he really is interested more in the long term than he is in the next two seasons. It will be interesting to see what type of contract the Wizards would offer him if they do decide they want to make a pitch.

I am torn both ways. I want him to stay, but at the same time, I realize that the cap room he might give the Wizards would be significant.

If it came down to it, I suppose at this moment in time, I would want him to stay on a very similar contract to what he has now. At the end of the day we know what he brings, and he is definitely worth what he is getting paid right now.

The uncertainties of free agency cause me to want him to stay. If we do get the cap space who knows who we are getting.

How bout a resigned Stack and Lue for Artest and Eric Strictland of Indiana? makes no sense, but i guess indiana need a scoring threat, and least washington have both guard positions defensively orientated.

Or maybe a stack and lue for darrel armstrong and garrity?

or they could just resign stack, i like his game. And wizards need a scorer while kwame and co develop. I actually think juan dixon, and jarred jefferies will be big surpises in a few years. Dixon is a gamble, but jefferies has got nice all around game.

This trade does not work under the cap based on Stack's current contract and if he resigns I'm sure that it still would not work.

That said, I would think Indiana would have to give the Wizards a little bit more to entice this trade.

If they replace Artest with Harrington now you would be talking but that is a difficult trade cap wise also.

I would trade Stackhouse for Harrington.

I think if we trade Stack our trading partner will be someone like Minnesota or Portland. Not sure what I would want from either fo those teams, so I guess unless we can get a guy like Harrington, we keep Stack.

a thought

If Stack takes his option, the Wiz will have a ton of contracts that expire in 2 years. The new GM should take a hard look as the best strategy maybe to develop the kids and have a load of cap space in 2 years.

If Stack takes his option and we choose not to opt for a sign and trade (probably Denver since they have the most cap space) it puts us into true rebuilding stage. You are right we should look then to stink big time and take advantage of the space we would have.

You can't just have half your team knowing they will not be back next year. Look at the Clippers. Players knew they weren't going ton be back so they quit on the season.
