Contract status for 2007

Anyone know the contract status of Hayes and Blatche for the 2007-2008 season?

It appears hayes has a qualifying offer, but I do not know if it has been exercised, and that Blatche is probably one of those odd restricted second round pick free agents.

Re: Contract status for 2007

What does qualifying offer mean, is that a minimum the Wizards can offer Jarvis this summer or can he accept less?, can the Wizards retract the offer and let Jarvis become a unristricted free agent and not sign him at all. I sure hope so because I can't take another season of Jarvis Hayes in a Wizards uniform.

Re: Contract status for 2007

The Wizards can essentially match Blatche's contract since they have his Birds' rights instituted under the new collective bargaining agreement. This rule was created after Arenas and Boozer left their respective teams.

The qualifying offer is essentially a one year tender, which the Wizards do not have to offer and I believe they could offer less.

Re: Contract status for 2007

The Wiz have to make Qualifying Offers to both by June 30 to make them RFAs. Hayes QO will be $3.4M which makes it debateable in my book. That's based on him coming off the 4th year of his rookie 1st rund draft salary scale contract. Blatche is an "early bird" free agent, so his QO will be 125% of the greater of his prior salary or the minimum salary plus $175k. Clear as mud, right?
