Kobe trades involving the Wizards

Chad Ford has a couple of trade scenarios for Kobe with him ending up in Chicago. They are essentially the same deal, one with Washington involved and one with Boston

Quote:
Here's one potential trade, with Bryant headed to Chicago and Arenas to L.A.
The Bulls would send Gordon, Tyrus Thomas and P.J. Brown (sign-and-trade) to Washington, and the No. 9 pick to L.A.
The Lakers would send Bryant to Chicago.
The Wizards would send Arenas and Etan Thomas to L.A.
and

The Celtics would send Pierce to L.A.
Let me say this, I do not think the Wizards would make a deal like this. Sorry, but I don't see Ben Gordon and Tyrus Thomas being equal to Gil. The reason Kobe would go to Chicago is because supposedly that is one team he would waive his no-trade to. Gilbert is more than just a player in Washington, and Chad Ford doesn't understand that apparently.

The Boston deal is interersting, adding Gordon and Thomas to then would bolster their lineup and they would also have the 5th pick.

Gordon
Wallyworld
Jinlian
Thomas
Al Jefferson

or possible somewhat better in my opinion the following.

Gordon
Brewer
Wallyworld
Thomas
Jefferson

Paul Pierce and the 9th for Kobe is a crime of epic proportions though.

The Wizards lineup would look like this.

Daniels
Gordon
Butler
Jamison
Haywood

Meh. Maybe if the Wizards could turn Jamison into O'neal it would look better with room for Thomas., but I'd rather have O'neal with Arenas if that pipe dream could be pulled off.

Re: Kobe trades involving the Wizards

i like it for all three teams. wizards get the worst end of the deal, but still you get ben gordon who is still getting better, and tyrus thomas who is a freak athlete and in about 3 or 4 yrs a potetial all-star.

Yeah great deal...

A career 6th man tweener (Ben Gordon) and a guy who is all potential and no substance (Thomas) for a rather young MVP candidate (Arenas).

Somehow that doesn't seem right..

Exactly.

Where exactly would this put the Wizards? Struggling mightily to make the playoffs, that's where. And the Bulls would get undoubtedly better. This is all predicated on Ford thinking Washington panics with worry about losing Gil. Wes Unseld isn't the GM anymore.

Gilbert is the face of the franchise. I really do not see Ernie moving him to save cap room or anything. He is the type of player you actually should break the bank for. If they willingly trade him, I will lock myself in a room and cry until the world falls off its axis. Just trade Haywood and re-sign Deshawn, then sit on your hands, the team is great the way it is.

Re: Kobe trades involving the Wizards

If Ernie looks at this trade anymore than 5 seconds then I will be disappointed.

First off, I don't read much of Chad Ford's articles because he's an "insider" and it cost money for his so-called "inside" stories. From what it looks like, he doesn't seem to think Arenas is as talented as Paul Pierce. In his trade, he uses adds a player along side Arenas to make the trade "even." That's really not that important, it's just funny he thinks the Lakers wouldn't accept the trade without them adding Etan. Of course, maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way. Maybe the trade wouldn't work money-wise, but I don't feel the need to research this joke of a trade.

Second, Gilbert is going anywhere. Period.

Third, I'm not sure why the Lakers would accept Celtics deal either. Trading Bryant away for a half-decent pick and a swingman who has yet to prove he can lead a team isn't something I see them doing. Besides, they have Lamar Odom who, when he's healthy, plays very well with the team and seemed like the leader of the team.

Alright, I'm tired of writing about this stupid trade.

If the Wizards were actually to make that trade, um well just make sure I am not in the same room as anyone in Wizards management. No ****ing way could they be that stupid, but we did trade C-Webb for Mitch Richmond.

How about replacing PJ Brown with Kirk Hinrich?

Maybe if we needed to dribble out the shot clock and force up a shot.

Hinrich makes it theoretically fair at least.

I still wouldn't do it. Id rather keep Gil.

I think you Wizard fans are missing the fact that the Wiz dont want to pay Arena's the BIG $$$ he'll demand after his current deal is over. Dont get me wrong, I like Arena's. He's an unbelievable scorer and is the Chad Johnson of the NBA.

The Wizards have no problem paying Jaminson the BIG $$$ so why would they have one paying Arenas? The answer is they wouldn't. The Wizards are not the Clippers and while they don't go out of their way to break the bank, they have ponied up the cash in the past.

By the way, Arenas is much more than Chad Johnson.
