Jamison For Marion
According to HoopsHype the Washington Wizards are discussing a trade with Phoenix that would involve trading Antwan Jamison For Shawn Marion. What do you think about this trade and do you think it would help both teams?

Re: Jamison For Marion
i dont know how that trade is going to either team.
how is marion going to fit when they already have butler? i guess he can play the four but i just dont like it.
as for phoenix, they're not getting any cap relief with this trade. so why even make it?
it's not like jamision is twice as better as marion.

Re: Jamison For Marion
Washington could use his defense, and Marion isn't getting along with Amare. Problem solved!

Re: Jamison For Marion
dude, I'd take that. Marion fits well with our up and down style, and he definitely provides more in terms of explosion. Neither is that great on the defensive end, so I'd given Marion a huge upper edge in terms of what he brings in terms of athleticism. This guy is a freakish athlete. Sure he may not be a leader, but he sure does bring hype, a good looking shot that isn't like everyone elses, and dunks! DUNKS...something Jamison didn't do until the playoffs. As a fan, I'd rather see Marion over Jamison. It won't do much to improve the team, but you will see a better looking product.

Re: Jamison For Marion
Marion could play 3 or 4, could if worst comes to worst put Butler at 2(lol),...Marion also wants out of PHX cuz he thinks he doesnt get enough credit, and he would shine along with Arenas. And yes, his defense would help the Wizards. I say if they did do it, they would have to play Marion at 4 though.

Re: Jamison For Marion
I would love to see this trade.
This trade would move Butler to the 2 spot allowing Marion to occupy the 3. The Wizards would then probably look for a promising forward or center in free agency and the draft.

Re: Jamison For Marion
Hell yeah, but I doubt Phoenix would do it. Who wants Jamison's contract anyways?

According to this, there are no discussions

It's espn insider btw.

The Suns seemed to laugh off any idea they would make a Shawn Marion-for-Antawn Jamison deal or have any chance to make a deal for Kobe Bryant.
Asked about a report of the Suns trading Marion for Jamison, the Washington Wizards' high-scoring small forward, David Griffin said: "We never had a conversation with them, ever, about anything like that. Completely asinine."

Re: Jamison For Marion
Jamison's contract is the reason Phoenix would do this. He is an expiring free agent next year - that's 15 million off the books.

Re: Jamison For Marion
The Wiz would be stupid not to do that trade.

They have bigger things on their minds than Jamison. Marion can also opt next yr and save em 17 M. They would still have to pay tax this yr anyway.
Besides, VP of Suns Griffin laughed off the deal anyway in the quote I posted before. Just a rumor started by some columnist. Not happening

Re: Jamison For Marion
Ivan Carter of Washington Post Insider reported this in his blog:
Quote:

For the record, several sources told me that the Wiz and Suns have never talked about a Antawn Jamison for Shawn Marion deal and my colleague covering the Suns, Paul Coro, said the same thing. If such talks did occur, I can't figure how that would make sense for Phoenix. Word is that the Suns want to trim salary and stay under the luxury tax but Jamison makes the same amount as Marion and, why would the Suns mess with a team that has been so successful? They may have been a Robert Horry hip check away from a title. Marion is a better defender than Antawn and I don't see him performing as well with a shoot-first PG like Gilbert as he has with a pass-first guy like Steve Nash.
