Goodbye Hayes
Quote:
The Washington Wizards don't intend to offer a contract to restricted free agent Jarvis Hayes, a sign the team has given up on the oft-injured forward, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.
The Wizards had not tendered a qualifying offer to Hayes as of last week, usually a formality in the restricted free agency process.

You had the potential to be a dynamic scorer with your shooting touch, but you just fell apart due to injuries and bad shooting slumps the past couple years.
Good luck somewhere else, Jarvis!

Re: Goodbye Hayes
I'm wondering if it's a possibility that Jarvis Hayes has no other choice to sign for the minimum or may find himself out of the league.

Re: Goodbye Hayes
I've always had a thing for Jarvis. I hope he gets picked-up somewhere else, and gets plenty of PT. Detroit could use him.

Re: Goodbye Hayes
And why should they, Hayes has bad knees and a lost jumper.

I used to be a big fan of Hayes, but after his rookie season it seemed like he couldn't stay healthy or consistent. He wouldn't be a bad end of rotation guy, but I just don't think he is very reliable to be playing a lot of minutes.

Re: Goodbye Hayes
I don't want him here, but I wouldn't blame another team for taking a chance on him cause he'll probably come cheap and he has starter potential if he ever remains healthy and gets some consistency. He's still young so maybe he'll find his spot still. I have no ill-will towards him.

Re: Goodbye Hayes
Good for Jarvis. I hope good for Detroit. He just never really got his engine going in DC. Injuries probably had the most to do with it, but there also seemed to be some mental quavers with his game. I kept thinking his mid-range shooting should have been a big part of the Wizards' attack, but he just didn't have his stroke going the past 2-3 years.
