Absolutely couldn't have come at a worse time for him. As long as he wasn't possessing or anything else, this isn't the end of the world. Worthy got pinched for the same.

Drafted in the second round out of high school, Blatche missed the 2005 training camp after he was shot in a carjacking attempt near his Alexandria, Va., home. He split time in the 2005-06 season between the Wizards and Roanoke of the NBA Development League.
In 2006-07, he averaged 3.7 points and 4.4 rebounds in 56 regular-season games.

This is the best thing for the Wizards management. He will not get any other bidders and the Wiz can sign him at the current offer. Once signed he needs to straighten up, some of his friends need to get him a girlfriend or two.

Man the jokes, the jokes, the vets gonna school him about how to get some action without going to jail.
A damn near 7'0 ft tall pro ball player can't find no more action than going for Prostee's. Damn shame.

Apparantly just about every veteran on the team has already had conversations with him at various points about how to handle himself off the court. Doesn't sound like it's sinking in. I don't think they are going to find it too funny.
It's not that the crime itself is overly serious, but it does indicate he hasn't been making any of the lifestyle changes that are usually necessary for long term success in the league. He's already been shot once for his lack of judgement, how he's been arrested too. I saw a story that he was sleeping at the arena during his rookie season because he blew through all his money so fast he couldn't pay rent.
Regardless of whether he becomes a good basketball player, if he doesn't make some changes things are not going to end well for him in the long run.
