EJ as a COY candidate?
Quote:
Eddie Jordan hasn't been mentioned in many circles as a coach of the year candidate, but he has certainly earned respect around the league for the way he's kept the Washington Wizards competitive despite a rash of injuries.
Despite the fact that three-time all-star Gilbert Arenas has been limited to eight games and two-time all-star Caron Butler has missed 20, the Wizards (36-33) remain in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race and have beaten several top teams, including the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics (twice), New Orleans Hornets (twice) and Dallas Mavericks(twice).
"I think he's doing a great job keeping that team afloat," Pistons guard Chauncey Billups said Sunday night after the Wizards beat Detroit, 95-83. "Those guys believe in him, you can tell. They believe in the system. Whether they're shorthanded most nights or not, they just buy into his system."

From Washington Post
I think it's Byron Scott's award all the way, but I don't think Jordan gets the consideration he's deserved for 3 years now IMO.

Re: EJ as a COY candidate?
To be honest, I've never been a fan of his coaching methods. His offense is good for the team, but he isn't knowledgeable on the defensive side. His substitutions sometimes are confusing.
But with the injuries that occurred this season, someone has to be credited for the success.

Re: EJ as a COY candidate?
Yeah it's weird in the sense that he's not the best coach...but recordwise he's surpassed the expectations for the past 3 years.
I don't think he'll ever get the naitonal attention he's really deserved.

Re: EJ as a COY candidate?
I guess by coaching .500 ball teams and getting bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs the last couple of season than yeah EJ is a great coach and has met all expectations. EJ should surely win COY

Re: EJ as a COY candidate?
I'm not saying he's a great coach. But last year and this year he's surpassed expectations with this team, I believe he's never gotten the recognition he's deserved.
