Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1
What did you guys think of today's game? The Wizards are gonna have to pass more and get Butler involved if they want to have a shot.

Re: Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1
The Wizards settled for too many jump shots in the 2nd half. They need to keep attacking, and they need to get Caron more involved in the offense. I also think the Wizards need Haywood to guard Ilgauskas around the perimeter. If they haven't figured it out yet, Big Z can nail that 18-footer with relative ease.

Re: Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1
Wizards are getting screwed by the refs in game 2 and have come into the series with the wrong demeanor. Trying to be overly physical when execution is all thats needed.

Re: Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1
Wizards weren't screwed by anyone other than themselves; sure, there were some bad calls that went against them, but that's not the reason they lost this game.

Or, you can limit the stupid fouls.
Get some good Offense going.
Nail wide open shots.
Limit stupid fouls.
I'm forgetting something, limit stupid fouls.

Re: Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1
I thought the Haywood's foul was at maximum a flagrant 1. A case could be made that it was just a hard playoff foul but that's the way calls go sometimes. Seconds before that play, Reggie Miller was commenting how he liked hard fouls when Antonio Daniels was hit in the air by Delonte West. If you can't foul LeBron hard when he goes to to he basket with a full head of steam, then he's going to score almost every time and they might even call a foul on you anyways.
I don't think the Wizards should even foul anymore because the refs are calling them for cheap fouls as well. Blatche and Haywood were already in foul trouble in the 1st quarter when they picked up 2 fouls each, it effected their play for the rest of the game.
By the way anybody else noticed that Big Z traveled at least 3 times before they finally called him for 1 in the second half. The Wizards got a lot of their free throws in the 2nd half when the game was out of reach once Haywood was ejected.
Still, the Wizards really did not show up with effort to beat the Cavs. They missed a lot of free throws early and often. Butler, Jamison, and Arenas shot in the neighborhood of 30%. Overall, nowhere near the level of play you need to beat anybody in the postseason.

Re: Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1
I agree that the Haywood foul was a Flagrant 1 at most. He did push him on the hips, but it wasn't a hard push. It was still in the neighborhood of some of the hard fouls that weren't even called flagrants in earlier circumstances. Once Haywood left the game, our post game went to shambles. Jamison, Songaila, and Blatche were non-existent, especially in the second half.
With Arenas now toting a sprained wrist, Jamison addicted to jacking up threes, and Butler just completely off his game, this is going to be a tough hole to dig out of.
But on the bright side, I'm going to Game 3 at Verizon Center! Anyone else going? I'm in section 432. Let me know if you are going!

Re: Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1
Great win for the Wizards. Seemed like everything went right for them and everything went wrong for the Cavs. Hopefully, the Wizards dont become complacent, especially since this is a team that blew them out 30 points a few nights before.

Re: Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1
Haywood deserved an ejection for that foul on LeBron in game 2, he like every other Wizard was frustrated and he didn't make a play on the ball just to give a hard foul that could of been a dangerous play. They win a game at home and they are still talking. They play well at home and the crowd is great so hopefully they can leave Washington with the series tied at 2.

Re: Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1
So the Wizards pretty much gave up the series. Noone besides Jamison and Haywood stepped up consistently the entire series. They couldn't stop Lebron, and they got outrebounded something awful today.

Re: Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1
Yeah, that was terrible today. The offensive rebounding of the Cavs killed them, and yet they still had a chance to win. But they gave up way too many threes.

Re: Wizards vs. Cavs, Round 1
Too many 3s, too many offensive rebounds, and horrible turnovers in the 2nd quarter cost them the game.
