John Wall Returns To Practice
For the first time since a stress injury was diagnosed in his left patella in late September, Wall participated in limited-contact drills, sped up and down the court, and traded trash talk with his teammates after making baskets.
“He’s still the same player. Fast. Aggressive. He looked good. Looked like his old self,” said Price, who has been out since Dec. 8 with a broken hand but participated in five-on-none, non-contact drills on Thursday. “He was extremely active. Just talking. You could see that he really wanted it. He wanted it. And that’s always good to see, especially from your franchise player, coming back off injury, to show how enthused he was to be back out there and how aggressive he approached the situation.” Wall's return isn't imminent, but it does sound like he's on his way. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...ludes-contact/

Re: John Wall Returns To Practice
Wizards aim for Saturday, January 12, for his return to action. Hoepfully, he's been working hard on the consistency of his jumper since he's been out.

Re: John Wall Returns To Practice
With any luck he'll make them halfway watchable. I may be in the Washington area in a month or two for a weekend and have thought about picking up cheap tickets to a Wizards' game.

Re: John Wall Returns To Practice
With Martell Webster playing well lately and Nene getting back into the fold shortly, the Wiz will actually have a legit line-up to put out on the floor.
PG Wall/Price SG Beal/Temple SF Webster/Ariza PF Nene/Vesely C Okafor/Seraphin That's pretty close to the team I thought would contend for the 8th spot in the East this season.

Re: John Wall Returns To Practice
You are right, for the future of the franchise. Selfishly, though, I just want them to be a team I look forward to watching on league pass.

Re: John Wall Returns To Practice
And at some point its better for the team to start winning and building some confidence. They can keep getting lotto picks every year, but it will be hard to get players to stay if there's no light at the end of the tunnel.

Re: John Wall Returns To Practice
I think Washington's going to finish with a bottom-five record regardless, but with Wall coming back and other guys getting healthy they could at least play some decent defense and run something that is identifiable as an offense. The big thing with Wall and Beal is going to be a stable, mature environment where they have the opportunity to run real NBA systems. Washington's lucky in that the top ten of this coming draft has plenty of frontcourt players, so they're unlikely to be forced into reaching for a guy based on need.

Re: John Wall Returns To Practice
With Nene's enormous deal and with Vesely, Seraphin, and Booker already on the books as young front court players, I see SF as a bigger need area than the front court for this team.

Re: John Wall Returns To Practice
If Poythress is off the board, what do you do, though? Unless you really like Porter out of Georgetown, you're stuck. Truth is, nobody in the Wizards' frontcourt is good enough to dissuade me from thinking they should take the best forward or center available wherever it is that they're picking. If you're Toronto(I know they're unlikely to have a pick), with Valanciunas intended as your center of the future? Sure, pass on a center in the draft for a forward or guard. However, I can't see passing on a guy that you think is the best available because you have Vesely and Seraphin already.

Re: John Wall Returns To Practice
I don't see the Wizards picking with both Shabazz and Poythress off the board. They should be able to secure one or the other.
