ESPN is reporting Popeye will sign a 1 year deal with the Mavs.

Can't same I blame him. He would be playing in a logjam in Washington with young guys needing time behind him as well as Laettner and his contract. It would have been a losing proposition to him to come back to the Wizards. Now he gets a chance with a contender.

I'm really glad Ron Jones is gone he had a great year for us last year but I thought Collins would use him as a crutch to much this year and not let our young guys develope, no he has to go with the young guys, BCH what are your thoughts on this notion that Ewing is somehow the Pseudo coach/defacto back-up center,I heard David Aldridge saying that on Tv the other night ,I really hope thats not the case Ewing might do in a pinch but we'd do better looking elsewhere.

At this point in their careers, Popeye Jones is a better option then Ewing, I am a big Ewing fan, hate the rest of the Knicks, but he is a top class guy... But I think the legs and knees are shot.

I'm a little confused here (big surprise, eh?)

Are the Wiz going for the playoffs this year, or are they going to let the young guys develop?

Kwame's rookie season was a waste because he couldn't get on the court and disturb the Wiz' playoff hunt- how will this year be any different?

Young players develop by getting on the court and learning from their mistakes- how many mistakes are the Wiz going to put up with when they are in a playoff race?

Also, how do you see the PF/C minutes breaking down for the Wiz this season?

Didn't Brown play in the Summer League, and get some time at the Big Man Camp? I am also sure that Jordan had him up at Chicago practicing. He should be much better next season. I think the travel for a guy out of HS is much harder on such a guy, then a guy coming out from college.

He had it tough... the freedom, the money... some people just don't know what to do with it...

All very good points Petey you're right the travel and all the side things I think become a bit more overwhelming for a highschool kid also his mom didn't come live with him like most highschoolers moms do so he had to fend for himself for the first time which can be a strain also.
