Official Wizards vs. Denver discussion 10/15
We are going to try to post threads like this before each game.
Well looks like we go at our old friend Juwan tonight. I don't know how much of a gauge any pre-season game is but especially one with a team like Denver.
Let's hope Kwame, Juan and the goes keep some momentum going tonight.

It sucks having to figure out what happened in a game by reading a box score.

Good test tonight for our young Bigs, Skita Hillario and Howard should off a little test, Brown and Hillario match-up should be interesting and Jeffries on Skita should be also, we finally have a 6-11 guy who can guard the NBA new 6-11 to 7-0 ft perimeter forward in JJ ,he should be able to contain guys like Nowitzki,Kg and Antoine Walker, maybe not contain them but guard them with his quick perimeter feet. This is a gme we should win,but more importantly give our young guys more experience ,Juwan is going to be the new Chris Gatling in the league from now on, once his salary goes back down he's just good enough to help you but you always look to upgrade on him, he'll be traded 3-4 more times before his career is over.

I'm really hoping we can gel by the later pre-season games. During those early games last year the team did a lot of standing around waiting for MJ to shoot. The more I think about it the more I think that there is no way MJ skips all of the pre-season. Working in practice is totally different than against other competition.

interesting thought NEW, but I think the problems we had early in the year last year was becasue MJ was playing and not practicing. Practicing with the guys should allow them to get used to him during the game, even if he is not playing with them right now. I expect a smooth transition for MJ and my initial hesitation of a slow start seems to be alleviated somewhat by the fact that we are concentrating on defense, and running the break. These two aspects are great ways to get a team of guys who are new to each other off to a quick start.

and we win!!! 88-75
Great game from Stack and Kwame. Etan also chipped in nice off the bench. I think now we should start Kwame at PF, and put Etan at the 5 hole, even though I think Haywood is a little more solid on def.(2 blk.) Lue has also seemed to have brought his game to a whole new level.
Also Side note: Dixon didn't do too well on the offensive side.
This is what I would like to see... on opening night, and this is what i would LIKE...
C-Thomas/Haywood
PF-Brown/Laettner
SF-MJ/Russell
SG-Stack/Dixon
PG-Hughes/Lue

I haven't seen an official boxscore yet so that score may be a little early.
I have seen 87-82 at ESPN and Sportsline.com, so I am inclined to go with that.
A win is a win, though and it looks like Kwame had another good game, this time with Stackhouse.

I think the Gamecast live feature froze up at nba.com because none of the scores seem to be accurate. I think 88-75 is the real score, though I'm not certain.
I can't believe I'm this pressed for a preseason box score...man I missed basketball!

Local I'm with you on that , The real score is 87-82 Wizards seen it on comcast, Looks like Kwame is startng to come on really strong he deserves to start based on his performance, I'm glad to see Stackhouse get going, I believe also that Etan is going to be our best option at center ,Brendan just isn't as active as he should be right now ,and Etan offers us constant energy and effort.
Man I can't wait for the regular season, we got something for Vince Carter again this year. Please all the local fellas be careful ,I wish you all well because this sniper situation is very serious.

its 87-82 even though it says 87-80 at the top of the link... and even though it says sumthing like 88-75 on nba.com/wizards.

Posey really seemed to burn us...
But once again... solid game for kwame 15-10, but damn.. Jerry, u turned the ball over a **** load of times. This will really need to be fixed. 21 turnovers is not tolerated!!!!
This team seems really different... last year we shot well from the line, and had a low turnover rate per game... now we are shooting lower than 70% at the stripe, and turnign it over 21 times. Hopefully this wuz just a bad game.

15pts 10rebs 3blks in 27 minutes.
He outplayed the competition.
I am less worried about Stacks TOs than others, that was part of the deal in getting him. He played 46 minutes. That is a ton of minutes.
Etan seems to be getting his legs back.
Dixon was off but he is young and that is fine considering we shot over 50% as a team.
We definitely did not run as much tonight. Seems that Highes may be key to an uptempo offense. I have noticed that when he does not play we do not get as many fast break points. This could be caused by what he is doing with the ball as well as what he is doing on defense.

This is sounding a lot like the Redskins pre-season but I hope with a different start for the Wiz.
Looks like an overall good effort sans the turnovers. I love how Stack gets to the line and turnovers will happen when you go to the hole like that. I remember the young MJ always taking it to the hole and going to the line when the Bull needed some points.
Danger, Danger, no I'm not comparing Stack to MJ.
When can we say that this is a new Kwame?
