Each player has to pick a college, but they aren't necessarily going there, if they don't go pro then they go to that College they selected.

uhm. once you decide to be eligible for the draft then you give up your right to go to play in college.

There are only three names that have been hyped to the level to get me excited -- Okafor, Howard, Deng. If we don't get any of those three, then I probably won't be jumping through hoops regardless of who we pick up. Just about all the rest of the guys sound about the same to me. At this point, whether we draft Smith or Livingston or Biedrins or Podkolzine, it just doesn't matter much to me.

At this point the Wizards would be looking at no worse than the 7th overall pick, but that would take some really bad luck for them to draft that low. In all likelihood they'll be picking around 3rd or 5th(obviously they can't pick 4th because Charlotte automatically gets that pick). I doubt Deng enters, and I doubt Okafor/Howard slip past 2. With that said, Washington still has a decent shot at getting a Top 2 pick, which they would use to get whichever of the two they could, preferably Okafor. But for the purpose of this discussion, let's say they get the 3rd Overall pick, and Okafor and Howard are off the board. One option is taking Livingston, and eventually moving Arenas over to SG, but I don't really think the Wizards want to do that. I think the more likely scenario is they draft Pavel Podkolzine, Andris Biedrins or Kosta Perovic, whichever of the three giants works out best, and shows the most potential. At this point I'd put my money on Pavel, with Biedrins just behind, and Perovic a distant third, but still capable of climbing past them. Any of the 3 giant Centers would be good picks for the Wizards IMO because that is clearly the biggest hole in their roster. Arenas, Hughes, Hayes, Dixon and Blake make a deep, solid backcourt, and Kwame Brown is finally showing that he could be the Power Forward of the future, leaving only the Center position open. Add Podkolzine/Biedrins/Perovic and the Wizards have a very young, talented team that could be contenders very quickly in the East, and remain contenders for years to come if they can keep the core together.

Brilliant post rukahS, I like the fact of drafting Pavel because he is 7'5 or 7'6 and he is a giant. I read an article saying that when ever he got the ball, he would often get double teamed, triple teamed, quadruple teamed, and oddly enough, the whole 5 man squad comes at him. That shows how dominant Pavel can be in the NBA. I love the fact of Pavel and Kwame and Stackhouse in the front court. That gives excellent defense that Kwame has and the shot blocking and height advantage that Pavel has. Stackhouse lacks defense sometimes but he can shoot. I am not sure about Pavel's jumpshot game but Kwame can hit some if he has the look. If Kwame and Pavel play excellent next to each other I see playoffs in the Wizards eyes.
Arenas/Blake
Hughes/Dixon/Stack
Stackhouse/Hayes/Jeffries
Kwame/Jeffries
Pavel/Etan
A questionable one for us is Brendan Haywood, are we keeping this guy? Or are we going to let him go to Charlotte?

after some thinking this is what I would like to see.
Blake/Duhon
Arenas/Dixon
Hughes/Hayes
Kwame/Etan/Laettner
Howard/Haywood
no one pays much attention to Duhon, but he could be a steal in the 2nd round like Blake was. Dwight Howard is a freakish PF/C that needs to be tended to like Kwame. with Arenas and Hughes staying, we could have a dangerous young team.

Chances of us getting Howard are slim, it is about a 2% chance of us getting Dwight Howard, he is a top 2 pick no matter what even if his performance was weak in McDonalds HS Game.

He was co-MVP of the game with J.R. Smith.
