Josh Smith or Luol Deng??

Who would you rather have??
Why??

I would take Josh Smtih because I believe Smith has better potential and I amnot that impressed with Deng's game

Deng is the far better prospect. Deng I think could make a team like the Wizards who lack toughness and players who understand the complete game not just scoring a much better team immediatly. Deng is a glue guy, He has solid skill all across the board. He's a good rebounder, shooter, ball handler, and defensive player. He has great court awareness. He's not an explosive freak like Smith is but he's still very athletic and capable of making plays that help a team win.

Smith is explosve and has deep range. Too much like Jarvis Hayes for me. Hasn't shown me the ball handiling or court awareness. He could possible develop into a Tmac like prospect but might not be anything better than a Jason Richardson type player.

Deng I think at best could become a Pierce type player or at worst a James Posey type player with a better handle.

I've honestly lost interest in Smith recently. When I first started to really think about the draft, he seemed more well rounded and ready to contribute right away. If we're taking a project, I'd prefer it be at a more impactful position than SF -- a big man (Howard, Biedrins) or a point (Livingston). Right around the time word got out that Deng was in, my interest in Smith dropped pretty quick. At best he's sixth on my current, ever-changing list.

1. Okafor
2. Howard
3. Deng
4. Livingston
5. Biedrins
---
6+. Smith

Maybe some other teams look for him higher than sixth or later, but I've lost interest in him for us.

Smith's going to end up being the best player out of this draft, so whoeever gets him will be getting a steal.

I would take J Smith because I think he can cover the small forward position better then Deng. Lateral quickness and recovery speed on defense with his vertical make a Dennis Rodman type defender. I wouldn't be surprise if he could lead the team in rebounding and blocks. Defense alone I would take Smith, because I don't think the Wiz need help in scoring, and he could cover better than Hayes, Jeffries, and Stackhouse. I know there are Deng supporters so this is just my opinion.
