Official Preseason: Wizards vs. Denver II 10/21/2002
The Post indicates MJ may play, but I doubt it. There would be no real reason for him to make an appearance against the Nuggets.
At this point I just want to see the young guys get some time and the vets stay injury free.

au contraire BCH. The Wizards get 100K if Jordan plays. Chump change by the NBA's standardds, but hey, it can go to a worthy cause.

I thought it was 200K if he plays 50K if he sits.
Regardless, I'm guessing he plays before the pre-season is out and this is as good a game as any, although there are political ramifacations for playing with the money figure made public.

I believe MJ will probably play tonight contrary to others I feel like Abe is cheap and will ask MJ to get the loot, MJ needs to suit it up and get a little run stay game sharp and develope a little game continuity with his teamates.

MJ will always be my favorite player, but it is disgraceful that he couldn't find it in him to play 5 or 10 minutes when he was in North Carolina two days ago for the last time ever. This is his home, and it was sad because you could tell that a lot of low income folks had shelled out what was for them quite a bit of money to see Michael play for probably the only time of their life.
My wife said she would have liked to see him shoot a free throw in his street clothes just so she could have said she saw Michael shoot a basketball.
But low and behold when $150,000 dollars is attached to his playing, he doesn't hesitate to suit up. But I guess as an economist, I shouldn't be surprised that to MJ cold, hard cash is more important than playing one last time in front of his home state fans.
By the way, I was pretty impressed by Stackhouse, Hughes, and Kwame, although it was pretty weak Hornets team that the Wiz lost to.

I can understand your wife wanted to see his airness play. It is unfortunate.
First of all I don't think that MJ is playing for the $150,000 difference in pay. He would have played in this game regardless of the money. I expect him to play in at least one more. They have three games left and I take him at his word that he does not want to go into the regular season games cold-turkey and wants to let Collins look at the line-up against other competition.
What also adds to this is the pounding that MJ took upon himself playing in every pre-season game last year when he should not have. Everyone wanted to see him and he complied.
The organization tried to temper expectation by saying that he would not play in any games this year . I have thought all along that he would play in a few.
These are lessons learned from last year.

The political firestorm is already starting over this payment with Denver. My prediction is the Wizards will refuse the increase in pay and prove the MJ is playing for other reasons.

At halftime, looks like Hughes is having a great shooting night while Stack is having trouble. JJ is also having a good night other than the fould trouble. Kwame is in foul trouble too.
Juwan is scoring quite a bit on someone.
MJ played 8 minutes with 2 points, 1 assist and 1 rebound.
