Coach EJ on TV with George Michael

EJ was on George Michaels show full court press.

He said some really nice things about Kwame. The replay of the show comes on again at 1am.

EJ said Kwame has matured he's serious about his work ,shows up on time and works hard. He says Kwame is gonna be a terrific player in the NBA. He also says that the Wizards would consider taking a highschool player also, that the Kwame experience hasn't soured them on the idea.

EJ was much more positive about the team than at the end of the season.

I'll post more thoughts when I see the replay.

I always catch the 1:00 AM replay, but it's nice to see there's something to look forward to on this one. While I'm not ecstatic about the thought of drafting another HS project, I'm glad to see we're still open up to the idea despite the rocky road Kwame has traveled thus far.

The Wizards need to take the best player available. If it is a HS kid, then so be it.

Yep, I'm agree, which is why I'm glad the team is willing to draft one despite Kwame's problems up until now. Like I said I personally would prefer us to get a non-HS kid in the draft, but certainly not over a HSer who the team believes will be the better player in the long run.

Only problem I have with this highschool crop is there doesn't appear to be any great players in it. A whole bunch of guys who have a good facet or 2 to their games but no players who project to become great players.

I think Howard could become great but thats about it. He has a body already and some understanding of the game already.

The bargains in this draft could be only towards the end of the 1st rd.

I think there are only three potential future allstars in this draft. Okafor, Howard and Deng.

I don't think this is a good draft at all. And if we don't get top 3 I'd trade this pick for a really good player.

I maybe crazy but I can see a scenario in which we could get Tmac if Orlando and the Wizards end up with top 3 picks.

Say Orlando gets the 1st pick and we get 2nd. Wouldn't Orlando like to start over with the 1st 2 picks plus say Gil Arenas and an expiring Laetner contract for Tmac.

We could have

pg-Blake/Hughes
sg-Stackhouse/Hayes
sf-Tmac /JJ
pf-Kwame/JJ
c-Brendan/Etan

We could then draft one of the Euro big kids or Lawrence Roberts or someone. We would be set with Tmac as our star. We'd add scoring ,defense and a legit star.

The Magic could essentially draft their frontline for the future in Okafor and Howard plus add their pg in Arenas, save money on Laets expiring contract to add more players.

I keep hearing this speculation about Orlando trading Tmac for Marion and the such but why they already were losing with Tmac why then lose with marion. MY plan gives them a fresh start high lottery picks and money saved on Laet's deal. If there is a better offer I don't know of one.

that's actually not a bad idea, but i wouldn't call blake a legit starter in this league, we'd probably want to get tyron lue back.

we just got Arenas and you want to trade him? T-Mac is awesome, but I won't trade Arenas and our top 5 pick for him. maybe Stack and Laettner for T-Mac. the Magic expressed that they don't really want him so if this is so why not start off with 2 vetaran players.

T-mac for Arenas/Okafor? No thanks.

T-mac has proven that he isn't a winner. Okafor/Arenas can probably win more games then he can.

I'm prefacing this trade on the thought that the Magic get the 1st pick and we get 2nd overall. I would gladly trade Arenas and Howard for Tmac.

Tmac is a consensus top 5 player in this league. He's waaay better than Arenas is and better than Howard is. Come to think of it okafor is.

With what we've got inside with Kwame developing,Haywood improving and Etan all we need is a quality sf. Adding Tmac complete's our team.

Arenas isn't a natural pg he's a combo guard so losing him is alot like losing a smaller less athletic ,less effective version of Tmac.

If Arenas was a natural pass 1st pg I'd say no way because those type players make others better but Arenas really doesn't make anyone better.

Tmac with an inside game (Kwame) with others who can shoot and score on the perimeter (Stack and Hughes) he could be our LEGIT superstar.

I think any time you can trade for a legit superstar you do it.

I'm not ready to trade Arenas, I like him so I'm not really shopping him but to get one of the leagues 5 best players I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Okafor is an undersized center. He's unproven on this level and he has back concerns and size concerns at either the 4 or 5 really. He may only be 6'8. I like him also but he's never gonna be top 15 in this league as far as players are concerned just a really good player.

So saying Arenas and Okafor can get you more wins isn't accurate to what we have left on THIS team and what they have on that team which is essentially nothing.

The Magic would have a chance to start over with Dwight Howard, Okafor and Arenas and we'd get a proven superstar player in Tmac to go with a future allstar in Kwame ,an allstar already in Stack and a good player in Hughes.

I'd say we'd get the best outta this deal because it would be trading great for real good in effect.

Thats the difference in having Tony Parker and Manu (Good) for Jason Kidd (Great) you have to make that deal.

I can't put all the blame for the Magic's season on Tmac's shoulders. He did all that he could do basically. He should take some blame because everyone loses not just some players all players do but the circumstances caused them to lose.

Tmac has won before he led Orlando to the playoffs a couple of times they just had a terrible roster losing Mike Miller and Darrell Armstrong which changed the team chemistry.

Put Tmac on a team with some inside presence and a couple others who can get a shot and he could lead you very far. I think we could provide those things to him here.

TMac plays no defense, thats not really what we need.

And on okafor, he's 6'8" but look at Elton brand, he's pretty much 6'6" and he's a great player. and Ben Wallace is about the same size as okafor, it would be nice to get a guy just as good in defense as wallace with actual good offense.
