I'm prefacing this trade on the thought that the Magic get the 1st pick and we get 2nd overall. I would gladly trade Arenas and Howard for Tmac.
Tmac is a consensus top 5 player in this league. He's waaay better than Arenas is and better than Howard is. Come to think of it okafor is.
With what we've got inside with Kwame developing,Haywood improving and Etan all we need is a quality sf. Adding Tmac complete's our team.
Arenas isn't a natural pg he's a combo guard so losing him is alot like losing a smaller less athletic ,less effective version of Tmac.
If Arenas was a natural pass 1st pg I'd say no way because those type players make others better but Arenas really doesn't make anyone better.
Tmac with an inside game (Kwame) with others who can shoot and score on the perimeter (Stack and Hughes) he could be our LEGIT superstar.
I think any time you can trade for a legit superstar you do it.
I'm not ready to trade Arenas, I like him so I'm not really shopping him but to get one of the leagues 5 best players I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Okafor is an undersized center. He's unproven on this level and he has back concerns and size concerns at either the 4 or 5 really. He may only be 6'8. I like him also but he's never gonna be top 15 in this league as far as players are concerned just a really good player.
So saying Arenas and Okafor can get you more wins isn't accurate to what we have left on THIS team and what they have on that team which is essentially nothing.
The Magic would have a chance to start over with Dwight Howard, Okafor and Arenas and we'd get a proven superstar player in Tmac to go with a future allstar in Kwame ,an allstar already in Stack and a good player in Hughes.
I'd say we'd get the best outta this deal because it would be trading great for real good in effect.
Thats the difference in having Tony Parker and Manu (Good) for Jason Kidd (Great) you have to make that deal.
I can't put all the blame for the Magic's season on Tmac's shoulders. He did all that he could do basically. He should take some blame because everyone loses not just some players all players do but the circumstances caused them to lose.
Tmac has won before he led Orlando to the playoffs a couple of times they just had a terrible roster losing Mike Miller and Darrell Armstrong which changed the team chemistry.
Put Tmac on a team with some inside presence and a couple others who can get a shot and he could lead you very far. I think we could provide those things to him here.
