Wizards get #5

Time to trade?

I can honestly say I have no clue. I leave it up to Ernie.

Like I posted in the predictions thread, I really have little interest in the number five pick. In order, I'd like to see: a trade to swap picks with the Clippers (to draft Deng), trading the pick for a good SF (Harrington? Battier? I don't know), or using it to take the best player available (Gordon?). I'm usually open to projects, but I think we have the talent to make a move up next year, so I'd really like someone added to the team that will be able to contribute something next season. My first and second options could be switched, depending on the quality of the SF we could nab from another team and who we'd have to give up in addition to the pick to make it work.

When it comes down to it, I'll say the same thing as you -- I have no clue.

um yall got loads of talent at every position and if kwame busts out at all next year yall should be a play off team. i guess go for a sf in iguodala or smith or childress.

I'm hearing this Childress talk. It gives me shivers to think of us picking another soft " finese" player.

This draft sucks. The Clippers essentially ruined our draft. Funny thing is they want a pg and thats too high to pick anyone of the guys that high.

This is a possible trade for the Clips. They take Deng at 2, trade us Q Richardson we give them our 5th which they use to draft their pg with. Harris or Ben Gordon or Livingston.

Why they do this. Because Q Rich's contract is coming up they've just gave big money to Magette and Brand and don't want to pay any more big dough to Q Rich. Add the pg they crave at the same time adding QRich's replacement.

We get Q Rich as our sf. We can move Stack back to the sg.

We add toughness, and legitimate sf size to our team.

If not this trade we need to do something we've never done which is draft one of the big foreign kids.

Martyn Andrieuskis or however you spell it or Biedrins whomever is the best player.

And hope one of them can play.

We are in lottery limbo. This sucks.

I can see Ernie going for Childress at #5 if he is there. Childress is more of a SF than Jeffries will ever be, and even though we have Hayes, Childress could be a longer option at the 3 if Hayes plays some 2. As for Jeffries, maybe he can play more 4 with Kwame manning some more 5, especially if Etan leaves.

Right now, I say resign Etan to something less than the MLE, take the best player available, though I wish it wasn't Ben Gordon, and then go from there.

I will sit on it and rank my top 5 soon. Right now it does not include Igoudala, I would rather have Biedrins over him.

Why not take a chance on one of the many centers in this years draft. Pavel will definately be there. You could always package the pick with stackhouses contract and get a decent player.

Boston might trade pierce for stackhouse the wizards first pick and a filler. That would give boston 4 picks in the first round.

Is this a reference to Jeffries?

I hate to call him "finesse" when he has no skills I can determine except hustle.

Let me state that I am about to lean toward taking Childress because everything I am reading from Wizards' fans seems to be that Childress would be the worst pick ever. I think Wizards' fans are as snake bit as Wizards management, meaning if we pass on Childress he becomes the next Scottie Pippen.

I am officially going against the flow, and going with the Childress pick at 5. This way, I can not be disappointed when the Wizards take him, and I can always say I was right if he gets passed on and rocks the house.

Its late. I was sad. I am still sad.

I'm hearing that Childress is really rising in the eyes of many.

I may be missing something. I saw Childress play quite often last season. He played well. He was a very good defender. He could score and he could pass. He has a very strange release on his shot. But didn't seem to have problems getting it off. Something was still missing. He could be the 2nd coming of the Ice man and I'm overlooking it.

This is my fear. That Ernie is to close to this kid because Ernie's son plays at Stanford. He has a fondness for the kid because he's pulled for him for Stanford. The kid looks really tough compared to the other soft Stanford players.

His defense is what really impresses me but with his slight build how does that translate to the NBA level. Is he just a solid prospect or is he really good.

I wouldn't be mad with him as our pick nor overjoyed.

I really want to trade out but going Euro wouldn't upset me either.

I just pray that Ernie is as good as I think he is. I really have faith in Ernie. He'll earn his money with this situation. We need a player who knows how to play and can help next season.

sigh.

Okafor and Howard are going to get picked. probably Deng most likely also. that leaves us with.. some foreign centers and some shakey point guards.

I bet Ernie was like.. "5th.. what the.. who's in this draft again?"
