If Al Harrington is available should we trade
If Harrington is available like he seems to be, do we trade for him.
Al Harrington has legit sf size, he plays tough defense, he's tenacious, he's a low post scorer, and he has a smooth mid range shot. Sort of a reminds me of Mashburn.
Only knock I have is his personality. Would he try and dominate the ball too much as a starter here. Would he try and become the 1st option, would he blend well with kwame and Gilbert.
The next question would be what do we trade. I say we trade Hayes. They need outside shooting we need a legit sf and some toughness . Won't be enough though probably. Do we trade the 5th pick also. I'd have a problem doing both. They'd be getting 2 lottery picks for a 13ppg scorer in essence.
I'm not sure how I feel about this situation.
thoughts.

Its good for the Washington Wizards, because you don't always know whether lottery picks will turn out to be great players. Harrington gets 13ppg which is a lot for a bench player on the Pacers. If he wasn't playing behind O'Neal and Artest he would be putting up larger numbers.

Harrington is a PF, not a SF.

One of the trades I had in my "Ideal Offseason" thread awhile back was Hughes for Harrington. It worked salary-wise, and it gave the Pacers a look at a potential replacement for Miller. Since Hughes only has one year left, they could determine if he's worthy of being their SG of the future -- if he is they could re-up him, if not they could let him go. I think Hughes played his best ball when he was third option behind Jordan and Stackhouse, and he could relive that role in Indiana behind O'Neal and Artest.
For us, it lets Stackhouse move to SG and opens up a starting spot at SF, potentially for Harrington. He has wanted to be a starter for quite some time, so maybe we'd be the benefactor of him finally getting that. Since he can play both forward spots he could also back up Kwame at PF, getting minutes there when Kwame sits down and Hayes/JJ comes into the game. It would certainly be better than using Laettner/JJ in that spot.
I say it all too often, but fantasy trades aren't really what I'm good at, but I hope this one sounds okay.

As a starter he's more sf than pf. He's too small to play the 4 spot as a starter. He's listed at 6'9 but I've always thought that height was always misleading. He has sf mobility which is most improtant.
I like the Hughes trade MJG. Makes alot of sense. Don't really know of the Pacers would go for it but makes sense because it leaves us with the 5th pick.
If we trade Hughes we could then draft,Iguodala, Childress, Josh Smith or Livingston.
Re signing Etan I think makes sense now. We need the depth.

well the trade makes sense for the wizards if they want a small forward anyways; meaning if they were going to pick deng, childress, or iggy but harrington is better than any of them. this trade could also make sense for the pacers if they want to groom another high school player like shawn livington, especially since tinsley isnt that good. i dont see the pacers trading harrington straight up for larry hughes though. if they wanted to, they could move artest to the two spot and harrington would start.

Daily Herald: 5th Pick, Laettner for Harrington
Quote:
Harrington would be a nice addition to the Bulls. But if Indiana wants a high draft pick in return, Washington could provide some competition.
The Wizards have the No. 5 pick and can offer Christian Laettner to even out salaries. Laettner ($6.2 million) is in the final year of his contract. The Bulls' preferred throw-ins, Eddie Robinson and Jerome Williams, have similar salaries. But Robinson has two years left on his deal and Williams has four.

I'd have to take this deal. I was hesistant about giving up our 5th pick but for Laet and 5 yeah we'd do that deal in a heartbeat.
Arenas
Stackhouse
Harrington
Brown
Haywood
we could win with that 5 plus throw in a high 2nd rder maybe a Lloreda or Lawrence Roberts as a bench sub .

Arenas/Steve Blake
Stack/Larry Hughes
Harrington/Jarvis Hayes
Kwame/Etan
Haywood/Etan
I have to think that would be a top 4 seed in the East. Just a hell of a starting line-up and a deep bench.
