After the Rome Gladiators’ season opening win Saturday, coach Harold Ellis wasted little time thinking about his team’s next opponent.
That’s because if all the prognosticators are correct then tonight’s opponents, the Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Musicians, are the top contenders for the Gladiators’ WBA title.
“We need everybody to come out because we’re going to need help from fans, God and whoever else, I can tell you that,” Ellis said. “A lot of people are saying that they’re picked to win the league and tonight will be their third game and our second game.
“Hopefully, we can come out and play well. They’re really good.”
The Glads (1-0) won a game in disappointing fashion by Ellis’ standards Saturday and the coach hopes his team has shaken off the cobwebs.
