Warriors fall at Druid City
The Cartersville Warriors ran out of gas in the second half Friday night in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and dropped a 92-85 decision to the Druid City Dragons in World Basketball Association action.
Cartersville (5-3) was coming off a 135-132 win over the Marietta Storm Thursday night in Marietta that saw the Warriors rally from a 15-point fourth quarter deficit to escape with a victory. The Warriors led Druid City 44-41 at halftime and 58-53 midway through the third quarter, but the Dragons went on an 18-0 run to take a 71-58 lead and never looked back.
Mike Dean led Cartersville with 18 points. Bobby Brown added 16 and Antoine Broxsie scored 13 in the loss.
Cartersville -- which leads the Eastern Division by 1 1/2 games over Marietta -- is back in action Friday night, when the Warriors travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to take on the Musicians at 8 p.m.
