The Rome Gladiators are sitting in first place in the World Basketball Association’s Eastern Division, but they are not about to throw a party.
The team knows that there’s plenty of work still to be done.
The Gladiators are currently on a seven-game winning streak, and at 9-2 overall, they are atop their division and have the second-best record in the WBA.
At the halfway point of the season, however, head coach Harold Ellis knows his team is capable of playing even better.
“We really haven’t played our best game yet,” Ellis said Monday, as the Gladiators prepared to host the Marietta Storm on Wednesday night at Shorter College.
“This group is taking things game-by-game, and they are executing well down the stretch. That’s why they are winning some close games, but they know they still have a long way to go.”
