Zags struggling
yes and no. we kind of knew they wouldn't be as strong this year as they have in the past but they're hanging in there. the illinois game was such a wakeup call that its taken some time to get over it, at least for me it has. i got to see the umass game and thought they were a little sluggish in that one but them(umass) beating uconn makes that win look a whole lot better. the wazoo game was one i think they would like to forget. they need to get everyone on board, knight still doesnt look right and i still cant figure out why they redshirted josh heytvelt, they certainly arent strong enough to be redshirting talented young players. stay tuned.

'Zags had a great win at Oklahoma State, then followed it up by a lackluster performance at Missouri.

i told a fellow zags dad that this one(missouri) scared me. i just thought that after winning against washington, umass,ga tech and okla state there would have to be a letdown somewhere. turiaf's ankle problems have to be a concern but you have to be more than happy with the results so far.

Raivio really is a different player from last year. He is much more mature. I think Morrison is a first rounder this year if he declares and is so much fun to watch and a true leader. Batista is a stud. What a good pickup for you guys. I've never been as much of a Turiaf fan as others have but he is a talented big manand vital to the team. Since their still young, they need him to be healthy and stay out of foul trouble to go deep into the tournament. Their wins against GT and Oklahoma State were very good ones. Mizzou is a tough team to figure out. Some say it was a bad loss but the Tigers are good when they put their mind to it.

in total their preconferance was a huge success. they get good wins against umass and u of wash and great wins against ga tech and okla state, that in itself should get them seeded pretty high. turiaf's ankle scares me because it seems to be a lingering thing, as for morrison he'll be back next year and they will add a 6-10 kid in josh heytvelt who is going to be a good one in that program, he's redshirting this year. batista is awesome.

That is a good team now that Marigney is back. It's at St. Mary's too. Randy Bennett has done an awesome job with that program.

Zags So Far This Year
It's interesting to watch this year's team, cause after watching the past few years versions, I wasn't sure how well they would do.
It's obvious after losing Stepp, there were concerns about the backcourt but Raivio has done well. Outside shooting might have been an issue in losing Bankhead, but so far, it doesn't seem to be an issue. I think the WCC is going to go down to the wire, because teams key up to play the Zags. Portland is a average to slightly above average team, but they play the Zags hard consistently here in Portland.
I am just thankful that the team is still doing well, it certainly is better than anything I saw during my four years on campus from 85 to 89....
