Washington Mystics General Manager Linda Hargrove announced today that the team has matched the Minnesota Lynx's offer to Mystics Guard Coco Miller. Per company policy, terms of the contract will not be released.
"Coco has been an integral part of our franchise and we are happy to keep her with the Mystics organization," said Hargrove. "Her work ethic and versatility are tools that she brings to our team."
Washington selected Miller in the first round of the 2001 WNBA Draft. Following the 2002 season, Miller was named the league's Most Improved Player after starting every game that season where she recorded career best in every category. In five seasons with the Mystics, Miller has averaged 7.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, and 1.7 apg. In two playoff appearances with Washington, Miller averaged 7.8 ppg, 2.6 rpg and 1.5 apg.
Miller graduated from the University of Georgia and was named to the All-SEC First Team in 1999 and 2001. She finished her college career ranked fifth in scoring average (16 ppg) and second in free throw percentage (.743) in the SEC.
The 2006 Mystics season kicks off on Tuesday, May 23rd at 7:00 p.m. when the team hosts conference rival, New York Liberty. Season tickets and partial plans are currently available and can be purchased by calling (202) 266-2277 or by visiting the Mystics web site at
