The Sun announced Wednesday they have signed free agent Nykesha Sales to a two-year contract. Terms were not disclosed.
"We're excited to get that done," coach Mike Thibault said at a press luncheon at Mohegan Sun. "She's been a huge part of what we've done."
Sales, 29, is the Sun's all-time leading scorer and last season joined Sheryl Swoopes as the only players to reach 3,000 points, 500 assists and 400 steals.
Sales, who averaged 15.6 points and 3.6 rebounds, has played in all 230 regular season games for the franchise, which was formerly the Orlando Miracle, and has started 160 consecutive games.
The Sun now turn their attention to signing forward Asjha Jones, a restricted free agent. Jones may entertain offers from other teams, but the Sun have a chance to match them. General manager Chris Sienko said talks with Jones and her agent have been "very favorable."
