Lynx sign Augustus
Seimone Augustus is set for her first season in the WNBA.
Augustus, the first overall pick in the league's draft earlier this month, signed with the Lynx on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-1 Augustus led the nation in scoring with a 22.7-point average and was chosen Associated Press player of the year for the second straight season. She led LSU to three consecutive Final Four appearances.
In accordance with the WNBA's collective bargaining agreement, rookie contracts are for three years guaranteed with a fourth option year.
Earlier this week, the Lynx signed free-agent forward Brittany Davis. Utah guard Shona Thorburn, the Lynx's second selection in the first round, signed last week.
The Lynx open training camp Sunday. The first regular-season game is set for May 23.
• Augustus won the Honda Award on Wednesday as the nation's top women's college basketball player.
