Ambrosia Anderson has yet to play a WNBA game and already she's on her third team. The Connecticut Sun claimed Anderson, a 6-foot-1 rookie forward from Brigham Young, off waivers Thursday.
Anderson had been drafted by the Detroit Shock in the second round (17th overall) of the 2006 WNBA Draft.
Moments later, Anderson's rights were traded along with Detroit's 2007 second round pick to the Minnesota Lynx in exchange for second-year forward Jacqueline Batteast and a third round pick next year. She was waived by the Lynx Tuesday.
Anderson averaged 10.6 points and 5.2 rebounds at BYU and was named the Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Year as a senior. She will not join Connecticut until she passes a physical.
Connecticut now has 16 players in camp, including injured guard Lindsay Whalen, with forward Taj McWilliams-Franklin returning from overseas commitments on Monday. It must get down to 11 players on the active roster before the start of the season on May 20 at home against the New York Liberty. The Sun plan on keeping another player on the inactive roster and may add a second player once their salary cap is prorated.
