Shortly after the Comets began workouts on Monday under the scrutiny of assistant coaches Karleen Thompson, Kevin Cook and Tom Cross, coach Van Chancellor walked into the gym and turned a somber mood into an even more morose scene.

An 81-63 loss two days earlier has a way of prompting change, whether in the preseason or regular season. As the Comets prepared for tonight's preseason finale against Detroit at Toyota Center, change was indeed the watchword.
