Tickets on sale for 2006 WNBA All-Star Game

NEW YORK, NY (May 16, 2006) - WNBA fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the 2006 WNBA All-Star Game on Thursday, May 18 at 9:00 a.m. ET, when tickets go on-sale nationwide. The 2006 WNBA All-Star Game, featuring the world's best women basketball players, will be played at Madison Square Garden, home of the New York Liberty, on Wednesday, July 12 with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live on ESPN.

"Madison Square Garden is a Mecca for basketball," said WNBA President Donna Orender. "As the site of the first WNBA All-Star game it was the perfect venue to celebrate this milestone anniversary year."

With tickets starting at $10, fans can enjoy the unique experience of seeing the WNBA's superstars together in the league's special event in The World's Most Famous Arena. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.com, at Ticketmaster Retail Locations, or by calling Ticketmaster at 1-877-WNBA-TIX. Tickets will also be available for purchase at Madison Square Garden's Box Office, through WNBA.com and at the NBA Store in New York.

"As the WNBA celebrates its historic tenth year, it is an honor for the New York Liberty to be hosting its third All-Star Game," said Carol Blazejowski, Senior Vice President and General Manager. "Madison Square Garden, with its vast sports history and passionate Liberty fanbase, is the ideal venue to pay tribute to the league's best players as we begin a new decade of women's professional basketball."

The All-Stars will be extremely visible in New York during the All-Star break as the league will launch a number of community initiatives. Foremost among those will be the 2006 WNBA All-Star Summer Jam, the league's free interactive basketball festival, and WNBA All-Star Legacy project, which serves as the centerpiece of the WNBA's community outreach efforts in the All-Star host city and leaves a lasting and positive impression for the community. Details for all surrounding events will be announced at a later date.
