LAST TWO GAMES

GAME #32: August 8 - Fever 77, Liberty 44

The Liberty had a rough start against the Fever losing its second straight game in the final stretch of the 2006 season...Indiana started the game with an 11-0 run and outscored New York 19-6 in the first quarter...The Liberty more than doubled the points in the second quarter, but still could not catch up to the Fever...Indiana continued strong and entered the locker room with a 38-22 lead over the Liberty...As the teams returned to the court Indiana continued its consistent scoring, opening the second half with a 9-0 run, increasing their lead, and holding the Liberty to only five points in the third quarter...New York would increasing the scoring output in the final frame, scoring 17 points to the Fever's 18, but it was not enough to make up for the lack of scoring earlier in the game...Indiana took the win, 77-44 ...High scorers for the Liberty were Cathrine Kraayeveld with 13 points and Ashley Battle with 10 points...Indiana finished with three players in double figures: Tamika Whitmore (14), Anna DeForge (13) and Tamika Catchings (12).

GAME #31- August 6 - Shock 65, Liberty 53

A slow start for the Liberty earned them their first loss in the last three games, 53-65...New York fell behind early to the Shock scoring only six points in the opening frame, 6-23...Detroit continued to build upon their lead opening the second quarter with an 8-2 run that was halted by a three-point shot from Loree Moore at the 5:04 mark, 13-31...Despite Moore's continued late quarter shooting spree, she connected on three of New York's final four shots, the Liberty headed into the break down double-digits, 19-35...The Liberty returned to the floor with a renewed focus going nearly shot-for-shot with the Shock recording 15 points in the quarter...New York continued to try and get themselves back in the game, but the Detroit lead was too much to contend with...New York scored 19 points in the final frame to the Shock's 13, but Detroit was able to cruise into the victory at the final buzzer...Detroit was led by Cheryl Ford who scored a game-high 24 points...New York had two players finish in double-figures, Moore (10) and rookie Sherill Baker (10).

New York vs. Charlotte

Tonight New York will play host to the Charlotte Sting for second time this season as the teams play their third and final match-up of the 2006 season...The series is split 1-1 right now and the Liberty look to claim the season series with a win against the Sting this evening at home...Tonight's game will be broadcast live on MSG Network at 7:30 p.m....The Liberty is currently 9-23 holding the sixth-place spot in the Eastern Conference...Charlotte has a record of 10-22 and sits one game ahead of the Liberty in the fifth spot in the East.

DEUCES WILD

The Liberty has been stuck on twos as of late ... The Liberty is currently in a two-game losing streak, having dropped the last two contests to Indiana on Tuesday and Detroit on Sunday ... That followed a two-game winning streak, with victories over Chicago on August 5 and Detroit on August 3 ... Earlier in the season the team had two other two-game streaks: losses to Connecticut on June 7 and Houston on June 9 ... Then wins against Washington on June 21 and Minnesota on June 24 ... With two games remaining in the season, the Liberty hopes to put together another two-game streak: two straight wins to finish out 2006.

COMING DoWN THE HOME STRETCH

New York is in the midst of playing six games over the final 13 days of the 2006 season...Sunday night's road match-up with the Shock marked the final road game of the season and Tuesday against Indiana started a three-game home stand to wrap up the 2006 season ... The Liberty will face Charlotte tonight then close out the summer by hosting former Lib coach and player Richie Adubato and Crystal Robinson on Sunday ... New York has won three of its last four games at home, and hope to continue the success these last two games.
