SAN ANTONIO — Storm forward Lauren Jackson sat on the bench, missing her third game of the season to rest a hairline stress fracture and plantar fasciitis in her left leg and foot.
Jackson, the team's leading scorer (19.5), will also miss the regular-season closer against Houston on Saturday, giving her at least an eight-day break before the WNBA playoff opener. It will be Jackson's longest stint away from the court this season, surpassing a scheduled seven-day break between games in July.
"I'm pretty much just resting my body," Jackson said. "The pounding, it takes its toll, obviously. So I'm trying to not do anything and keep off my feet to get back to a regular Lauren Jackson by playoff time."
Jackson, in effect, earned the days off by hitting her team's playoff-clinching shot against Detroit on Tuesday.
