Washington, D.C. - Washington Mystics Guard Nikki Teasley was named the WNBA's Peak Performer for assist per game for the 2006 regular season. She led the league with 5.38 assists per game and was the assist leader in 23 of the 34 games played. It is the second time that Teasley has earned peak performer honors.
"I am honored by the recognition," said Teasley." I am more excited in earning a WNBA championship with my teammates. It would mean more to me than any individual award."
The Mystics acquired Teasley from the Los Angeles Sparks and the No. 8 pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft on March 1, 2006. A native of Washington D.C., Teasley helped lead the Sparks to two WNBA Championships.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Teasley was drafted in the first round (fifth overall) by the Portland Fire and was immediately dealt to the Sparks. She earned numerous collegiate honors including All-ACC first team and AP All-America honorable mention.
The Mystics will host the Connecticut Sun on Friday, August 18th at 7:00 p.m. at the Verizon Center for Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs series. Playoff tickets can be purchased by calling TicketMaster PhoneCharge at (202) 397-SEAT or by visiting the Mystics web site at
