The worst season in the 10-year history of the Liberty ended with the team looking as good as it did all year. With a 93-81 win over the playoff-bound Washington Mystics yesterday at the Garden, the hosts tied their season high in points while winning for the seventh time in their last 10 games.
Does the finish indicate that this 11-23 campaign might have gone in a different direction?
"It could have, yeah. Of course we wanted to make the playoffs," said Shameka Christon, who made four of the Liberty's 13 three-pointers and tied for the team scoring lead with Cathrine Kraayeveld (22 points each). Alana Beard led the Mystics with 29 points.
"But with a season like this, you can't dwell on the negative," Christon said. "We're going to learn from our mistakes and get after it next year."
