The Minnesota Lynx won the WNBA's draft lottery last spring and were given the first pick. They'll have an even better chance at that prize next year.
The Lynx finished 10-24, with the second-worst record in the 14-team league. Only the Chicago Sky, who were in their first year of existence, won fewer games.
Minnesota's season, which began with so much promise after the selection of Seimone Augustus, ended mercifully with a 76-59 defeat to the Sparks on Sunday in Los Angeles.
Augustus was everything the team anticipated. The former LSU star averaged 21.9 points per game, the WNBA's second-best mark. She set a franchise record with 744 points this year, beating Katie Smith's 739 points in 2001.
