The Mercury aren't planning any significant changes as they attempt to establish the kind of continuity that has been a key to the success of the WNBA's playoff teams.
"That's what we need to take advantage of the momentum we had," Mercury General Manager Seth Sulka said after a review of a season that ended Sunday with a franchise-record seventh consecutive victory, yet no playoff spot for the sixth year in a row.
Sulka said a new coach in Paul Westhead, Westhead's fast-break philosophy, early injuries and the late arrival of former All-Star forward Penny Taylor contributed to a slow start that ultimately kept the Mercury one win short of a playoff berth.
