Yolanda Griffith to leave Monarchs for Seattle
After nine years with the WNBA Monarchs, veteran Yolanda Griffith will sign with the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, according to sources.

Sources close to the situation said Griffith is indeed signing with Seattle, leaving a void in the Monarchs locker room. No player has had as great an individual impact at Arco Arena as Griffith. She brought the Maloof family its only basketball championship in 2005 while earning Finals MVP honors.
Whisenant, who coached Griffith for five seasons including that championship year, greatly admires his longtime "warrior."
"Yolanda and I developed a really good relationship as player and coach," he said. "She's probably the best offensive rebounder in WNBA history. She's the cornerstone of the Sacramento franchise."
