Re: No Mercy Discussion Thread
And Orton completes the circle of stupidity by winning the belt back.

Re: No Mercy Discussion Thread
Orton wins the title in a last man standing match.
Not for nothing, but I think the WWE title was already diluted when they introduced that stupid spinning belt design.
I wish they would design a new, traditional belt. Maybe something retro looking.

Well to be fair, that was after Stern changed the league policy on carrying weapons and KG could no longer distract Zach with his pump, uzi and couple M-16s.

Re: No Mercy Discussion Thread
so Orton is now a 3 time champ and HHH a 11 time champ
I thought it was fun. 3 title changes (if you consider giving it to Orton a change). 3 title matches. HHH vs. Orton at the end was a brutal absolutely terrific match

1. One of only seven players in NBA history to average 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists while shooting 50% or more from the field in a playoff series (the others are Bob Cousy, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan). Wade accomplished this in two consecutive series in the 2005 playoffs.
2. Joined Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, and Allen Iverson as the only players ever to record games of 40+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 15+ assists in the same playoff season in 2005.
3. Holds the record for being the only player in NBA history to ever average at least 30 points on 69.5 field goal percentage for four consecutive NBA playoff series games (5/23/06-5/29/06). The last record was held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 63%. Wade accomplished it with less than 20 field goal attempts per game
4. Fifth player in NBA history with at least 30 points, 15 assists and 5 rebounds in a playoff game (5/10/05 vs. WAS). The others are Magic Johnson, Jerry West, Walt Frazier and Oscar Robertson.
5. One of four players in NBA history to have at least 30 points and 12 assists in three consecutive games (November 24-27, 2006). The others are Oscar Robertson, Nate Archibald, and Kevin Johnson. [5]

I'm sure Vince Russo could have thought of something dumber.
Actually, this whole thing is like something out of a Russo wet dream. I'm surprised you don't like it.

The more I've thought of it, the more it stinks of just giving Triple H another title reign to get him one closer to Flair.

Yeah, that thing needs to go. That's an abomination. Even the Ultimate Warrior's WWF-belt-with-the-lavender-strap was better.

It could be....
I don't know- my opinion of the PPV was that it was a fun one. After boring PPV's and a f'n year long reign, it was nice to see the title change hands and some unpredictability of how to do it. I thought Orton was going to get it back after HHH won it, but I thought Umaga was going to be in a three way with the tw. Orton and HHH put on one great match and one really good match. HHH put on a solid match with Umaoga in between.
I think WWE made good of a bad situation. Made a hell of a match between HHH and Orton without a doubt

No denying that it was a great match. And you've gotta respect HHH for going out there and putting in one hell of a night.
I just think it would've been smarter to have Orton win the belt in a match, not have it handed over to him and then all the ensuing shenanigans that went with it.
Should be interesting to see what they do next.
