After a pectoral tear injury ended WWE Champion John Cena's year-long title reign, WWE officials declared a new champion will be crowned in Chicago. And after a roller coaster ride of an evening for Randy Orton, the Legend Killer emerged with the WWE Championship gold.

Orton was awarded the gold, only to be challenged by Triple H. The Game defeated the Legend Killer to recapture the title for the 11th time. But The Game's reign would be short-lived. Mr. McMahon insisted on pitting his nemesis against Orton in a Last Man Standing Match. After a brutal battle, Orton emerged victorious, clutching his precious WWE Championship. How will Triple H avenge his loss at the hands of Orton? How far is Orton willing to go to retain his newfound title?

The Glamazon powered past Candice Michelle at No Mercy and will raise the gold in Grand Rapids. Candice left everything she had on the mat, but Phoenix proved too powerful to contain. Will the Candy-coated Diva seek revenge on the Glamazon? Or, as Phoenix said, has the "Era of the Glamazon" officially begun?

triple h didnt have to use it to get another notch in his belt though.

I hope Jericho comes back sooner than later. WWE has been so sucky lately.

nah, look at the ppv thread, im not alone in thinking that it was dumb that orton gets the belt right off, then like 10 minutes later triple h is the champ, and then he goes on to lose the belt at the end of the night. it was pointless and they only did it to get him yet another reign to add. meanwhile they couldve taken advantage of the night and put some guys over that need it, main event wise. Jeff Hardy and Carlito have storyline reasons to be in the main event for the title, as does Umaga as he was Triple H`s opponent last night. realistically I dunno why Triple H would be the person thrown at Orton last night, it should be the number 1 contender aka the IC champion. So how is it hate, did it make sense to you at all that Triple H got another reign last night for practically no reason at all? I mean honestly Triple H and Orton couldve just done the main event, and built it up all night from the opener. Vince could have given orton the belt right off like they did, but then announced a secret contender for the main event, which wouldve been perfect because people have been dropping Jerichos name around alot. The crowd wouldve went nuts if they had gone this route, and I wouldnt have minded this at all as it gets Orton over while making perfect sense even if Jericho not being there would suck, a Triple H/ Orton main event would still be good.

you cant say it was done for absolutely no reason thats dumb, theyve been planning an Orton Triple H feud for quite some time now. With Cenas injury it got pushed into hyperdrive. I personally thought this was a great way to really get the feud going. If you just announce a match and put HHH or whoever else in it and have Orton win it really doesnt establish a feud at all. All that would of done is left us with is Orton with the belt and no real idea who he should be feuding with now. But having Trip win the belt and lose it after 2 more defenses it does BOTH THINGS the WWE wanted to accomplish at No Mercy, A)Leave with Orton as Champ and B)Establish the feud between him and HHH. Now instead of leaving us with Orton and uncertain who should be really getting the shot agaisnt Orton we now have the clear feud that WWE wanted. Also IMO putting Jeff Hardy and Carlito in the WWE Championship title picture tarnishes that belt more then Cenas Spinner.

Bottom line Triple H put a hell of a show on out there and I dont think they could of made it anymore interesting. To be honest I thought the outcome was perfect and that says a lot considering Triple H lost.
