Wrestling show/Jake the Snake

Did anyone catch the program on TNT the other night about wrestlers.... mainly Terry Funk? Funk is interesting and all, but the segment on Jake the Snake, and also the part about Mick Foley were really weird, almost sad. Jake the Snake is still wrestling but now in little butt-crack places, he's addicted to crack, he is way outta shape, estranged from his daughter (like she was normal).... we'll see on the news some day that he is found dead in some shabby hotel room, dead from O.D. or something.
And the part about Mick Foley with his wife and children at the matches and his small daughter being so disturbed seeing her daddy getting pounded and bloodied........ dude.... Mick..... here's a freakin' clue. Tell your wife NOT TO TAKE THE CHILDREN TO THE FREAKIN' WRESTLING MATCHES!!!!! Get a baby sitter. Leave them in the back with someone trust-worthy. Do something! And ya know, I don't think the little girl was scared because of the pounding Foley takes in the ring, but I think she was more scared sitting with her mommy and seeing her mommy get all scared and emotional. Little kids take their cues from their parents, and Foley's wife is ringside crying, and covering her eyes, and screaming, etc., etc.,... and that scares the crap outta the little girl and boy. Brutal.... just brutal.

I'd suggest you not believe everything you see on TV and to research your subject matter further.

I do believe Jake the Snake has since become a born again Christian, moved to London I do believe and is working in either his own small wrestling promotion or a new upstart. He's actually come a long way since his drug addiction.

If you are a wrestling fan, a nice board is http://www.lordsofpain.net - They really stay on top of the biz.

I lost interest in wrestling about 3 years ago when Sting left.

Well

I related what I watched on the tube the other night and asked for feedback.... thank you for the update. I probably will not take up your suggestion to "research" TV programs to validate them, but from what the tape showed, those were the circumstances of these men at that time.

Again, what was sad, disturbing, and interesting WAS the condition of Jake the Snake and the depths that he took himself, the extremes that Funk would put himself through, and the terrible situation Foley's children experienced.

As for Jake Roberts situation as you described, and I'll take you at your word, being a born-again does not make one immune to the powerful draw of crack, but I hope for his sake he can stay clean. It is also interesting that you say he is still dabbling in a wrestling venture of his own.... that supports the program's point of view that he is a very talented but haunted man who needs the limelight of wrestling as if it too were a drug. As I said, it was an interesting program... even if it was out-of-date.

Wow, I hadn't even realized that he left. I guess I stopped watching at about the same time. It was so cool to see him come down from the ceiling and knock people out with his black bat. He was so cool. Wrestling characters suck right now.

Your right wrestling does suck now. I turned to RAW at halftime of MNF and it was total BS.
