The Yankees' third baseman was named the American League Player of the Month for May -- the seventh time in his career that he has received the honor.
Rodriguez batted .330 for the month, hitting safely in 23 of the Yankees' 28 games.
Since the opener of a series at Fenway Park on May 22, he went 16-for-36 (.444) over his team's final nine games of the month. The hot streak coincided with quite a stretch for his team, as the Yankees went 7-2 in that span.
The power was there too, as Rodriguez hit eight home runs and drove in 28. The RBI total put him in a three-way tie with Travis Hafner and David Ortiz for tops in the league. Not bad for a guy who was booed by his home crowd earlier in the month.
Yea, not bad for the most hated Yankee player on this team by some Yankee fans.
That should shut them up for a while. Shhhhhhhhhh
