You can track the Act 250 process here, but right now status of the application is still "Pending review."

You would think the permitting process would be very clean, canít think of any issues such as traffic, but this is Vermont, so who knows. UVM has done a lot of construction recently, and donít recall any delays due to permitting.

Hey guys - any update to the state permitting?

Also - has Schulman ever discussed the layout of the TEC blueprints? I would assume the new arena would have a new film room, weight room, training and recovery room, and new offices for all of the basketball coaches and athletic department staff?

Will Brown won't donate $25K to UVM Sport Psychology Department with the words: "Money well spent- Coach Will Brown".

That's something a boss would do.

Seems like some pushback is coming. United Academics (the faculty union at UVM) is holding an organizing meeting this week.

Their gripe is that UVM can afford the new athletic facilities but has to layoff faculty.

As a proud UVM alum and donor, I will offer them some unsolicited advice: stuff it.

Faculty come and go. Sad to say, but every faculty vacancy draws a ton of applicants. When one is hired; Uber loses a prized driver.
Sports arenas are, comparably, relatively rare. Durable. And infinitely harder to acquire.

Isn't the short answer, "Because Rich Tarrant didn't feel like investing in $15M worth of faculty?"

But really, what took them so long? This isn't a true UVM project until there's pushback.

Wait a second, you mean to tell me we’re getting a new arena but as a result might not expand the Religious Studies department?!!?

Re: UVM New Arena Thread

Yesterday's concession performance by Sodexo was a joke. Early during halftime they ran out of hot dogs, pizza and pretzels, they had chili, candy, popcorn and soda left, with about 100 people in line behind me. Their exclusive campus contract means they will likely get the opportunity to screw up the new arena concessions too.
They probably based their sales projections for a sunny Saturday afternoon game (with many kids in attendance) based on what they sold at the mid-week Maine game in freezing rain.

They ran out of stuff at the hockey game as well. Sedexo is overpriced junk. They have come a long way with their cafeteria food on campus, but event food is terrible. I hope they can step their game up.
