Re: Top 144

seems about right, have a good core, have some talent in freshman coming in, new coach in place, the question become how do the gel and can they play well from the start of the year

I think Bonnies are 9th. Davidson 1, SLU 2, SJU 3, Mason 4. Mason's the chic pick. I don't know. I like it. Hell, if the 20th best team in the country is 9th in the A10 we could set a record for bids by a conference.

The only team that I would feel confident predicting about in the top 4 is SLU.

Davidson and St. Joe’s get too much credit because of their coaches. Mason hasn’t proved anything in the A10. They return all players on a .500 team, but as a Flyer’s fan, I learned years ago that this easily turns in to a high seed in the NIT.

My top 4 is SLU plus any three of URI, VCU, Davidson, SJU or UD.

My wildcard is UMASS. I think this program still has some national cache and with McCall on the sidelines should be back at the top where the program belongs.

Unfortunately, I see the Bonnie’s struggling to replace Adams and Mobley, PLUS
Taqqee, Ayeni and Brockington. That’s a lot for any team not named Kentucky.

I get that line of thought. Adams and Mobley were a special pair that aren't replaceable. But everyone acts as if we have nothing at that position now. We don't go from two all A-10 players to nothing, we have those positions filled, and we'll see how they do. As far as the others go, Taqqee will be the hardest to replace of those 3, he did everything but score. Brockington was a streaky shooter and athletic, and he became a better defender as the season went on, but I'm confident we have someone on the roster who's as good, maybe just not as young - it would have been nice to have him 3 more years. Ayeni was Mr. Foul. The smallest big guy I've ever seen put on the uniform. He couldn't jump, defend, or finish. He had a nice elbow jumper but that's not enough and certainly not everything you want out of your 6-8 PF. He was also a mental liability. I liked the kid but he needs to grow up a bit to play at this level. Ikpeze and Chef are more than capable of making us forget about Ayeni.

The last 2 times we've lost guys we took steps back - '13 after Nicholson/Cook was a disappointment if only for how the season ended and the tiebreaker. '17 after Posley/Wright we were still in the thick of things. '19? Who knows. I'm not inclined to think we're basement-bound.

I for one am pleased to see bd back posting. He's been rather scarce the last one or two years. I always love to see his wildly optimistic preseason posts. It also allows everyone else to make very accurate predictions themselves. All you have to do is to subtract 7 to 9 wins off of what he predicts and you have it nailed. So a top 20 less 7 probably leaves you about 18 or 19 regular season wins. I think that's eminently doable.

Y'all (that means all of you) can bite me.

I do not feel ANY Spider love. How can this be. Is it because we don't release an OOC schedule until September?

^ I didn't realize anyone had a positive outlook on how GW was going to fare this year. Where do you think GW should be ranked?

^ It was a legitimate question. I'm always interested in hearing objective takes from other fans about their team.

I don’t see the Bonnie’s being basement bound. They’ll beat Fordham.

It just seems too similar to what the Flyer’s dealt with last season. Losing 4 starters.
