In Rod we Trust...again

Overall, I have approved of most of the chess moves that Rod has made; considering the modern economics, egos, and realities of the game today.
In an era of incompetence in big business and politics, Rod Thorn, despite limitations, changing ownerships, disgruntled superstars and GM's around the league, not grounded in reality, Thorn appears exceptional by comparison.
With that said, I trust in Rod..for the millionth time, he's rarely disappointed. Folks love to say: JKidd got this franchise to respectability and beyond, but Thorny is responsible for putting the machine's parts together. He knows what he's doing. So I will wait until Thursday to see him walk out of the 'west virginia coalmine' with soot on his face and work well done, and I have a suspicion we are going to have a very, very dynamic, interesting team with tons of potential and reasonable flexibility. On that may be very good in the not too distant future. (With that said...I think Mike Miller would be a great, next step towards that end).
GO ROD
IN ROD WE TRUST.

So long as Harris comes back healthy, very good trade.

Agreed MM,
and I have to believe whether by Thursday or later this summer, that Rod constructed this Kidd deal to give him leverage, flexibility and options to make more moves.
In other words, One Chess move is a set up for another move.
Speaking of Harris, were you alluding to the chance he doesn't come back? I've heard very little about is injury and his due back date...any information?

He's supposed to return soon. Completely healthy is my worry.

Okay the NBA and its "rulings" are getting stranger and stranger.
So, now they are saying that Keith must remain with the team for a month for the deal to get approved. Does that mean "play", does that mean travel with and wear big ugly suits, does that mean he's forced to live in a hotel in Rutherford and eat take out for a month and stay away from his family? The whole thing is weird. And on top of that, is going to paid to do any of the above for a month? And is it in the millions? Damn I wish I had been born tall.

It would certainly take KVH more than a month to get into game shape.

I think Van Horn could still be servicable.. he was good throughout his career, I just have no idea why nobody has signed him. Did he want to retire? Or did teams just not want his services?

Harris was supposed to return against the Hornets on Wednesday. He should play for the Nets before the week runs out if the trade goes through.

Mostly column A and a little from column B. I think late in his career he knew he didn't have the love of the game that he once had. He wanted to be with his kids and the money he already made in his career afforded him the ability to leave the game at that point in his life.

Re: In Rod we Trust...again

ESPN keeps getting the story wrong. Is it 4 million for KVH or 2 million? I think it is 2 million and another 2 million in Luxury Tax.

Then ESPN argues that Kidd is shooting the worst of his career at 36%. Don't they know that JKidd has turned into a 3pt. shooter or else when the Nets need some points he just drives to the basket in the hope of drawing a foul or an alleyoop that is mishandled. No wonder his shooting % is down; yet his form is better than years past.

And why can't ESPN include the minor detail that Antoine Wright is also going to Dallas? How are the Nets going to replace Wright at both the 2 and 3 positions? At least Wright is athletic with some hope for improvement unlike the high paid scrubs Dallas is giving. I assume Thorn has plans for a second trade with Memphis for Mike Miller? However, if true, why didn't he try to link the two deals? And now that KVH is taking his time (maybe to punish JKidd), there may not be enough time to get a Mike Miller deal through!

JKidd should be getting on the phone to KVH and giving in to any of his demands including the use of his house and chauffers for the next month.

Hassell will be taking Wright's spot, that is if Miller doesnt end up a Net

In hope of drawing a foul?

Kidd is averaging 2.2 FTApg.

Hassell is a bum though. He had his best season in 2004.

Neither.

If you like this deal, you thank KVH.

Me personally, I'm not thrilled we took on Hassell's contract. The original deal was better AND it got screwed by the Mavs (George and Stack for seperate reasons). THEY should be the ones paying for the mess, not us.

Thorn had the leverage because the Mavs locker room was more vulnerable and they HAD to make a deal. Not us, Kidd could have rotted the rest of the season. We know where we stood with him. I wish Thorn would have demanded Bass in the deal as a compromise for being forced to take Hassell. The biggest let down of this entire deal is taking on Hassell's contract. Someone said he was an older Wright... yes that's true, and he's much more expensive.
