Post Bulls will take Yao Ming if given the chance

None of you have seen Yao play. And those who did, from the Sydney Olympics, surely remember Yao stuffing Vince Carter twice, swatting Alonzon Mourning and stealing the ball from Gary Payton. And the Chinese up by 10 points before Ming got into foul trouble and was benched.

I have, because I am expatriated at this moment to Shanghai. I am friends with the Marketing Director for Adidas in China who gets me free tickets courtside, and so have seen plenty of Sharks games.

Now, the competition may not be NBA level, but it is at or above Division I NCAA. For instance, former Spur Lloyd Daniels is a teammate of Yao Ming's. So, which NCAA player of the year has put up the numbers that Ming has? I'm talking 44 points a game, 28 rebounds, 14 blocks, shooting phenomenally from the field? Make no mistake. The international game has taken off and is well beyond where it was when the NCAA players used to win gold medals in the Olympics. If the Dream Team didn't represent the US, and China played a team of college all-stars, China would win about half the time.

This crap about Yao not having an inside game is just that... a bunch of crap. The boy can dunk and he can clean up on the glass. You haven't seen him dunk, have you?

Can he body Shaq? No. But, who can? He would beat the crap out of Shawn Bradley and Manute Bol and all these other stiffs he's being unfairly compared to. Besides that, no one can shoot like Yao can, and he is athletic for his size -- runs the floor like he's a small or power forward and is the best passing big man I've ever seen.

Anyways, for those who somehow believe that Jerry Krause is not going to draft Ming, you are wrong. Krause covets Ming greatly. He has been to China multiple times and I can assure you that if we have an opportunity, we will take Ming. Not only does Krause think highly of Ming's basketball skills, but Ming has the marketing power over 1.3 billion Chinese. Krause's job as GM is not only to field a championship caliber team, but to run the Bulls as a business. The fact that drafting Ming, thus winning the hearts and minds of 1.3 billion Chinese consumers, and building a dynasty remains mutually non-exclusive in the eyes of Krause only soldifies his intent to draft the Chinese giant.

Anyways, I selfishly want the Bulls to draft Ming, because it will mean nightly Bulls games for me in Shanghai. No offense to Houston, but as a Bulls fan and Chicago native, I'd rather not have to watch the Rockets every night over here.

And this crap about Dunleavy over Ming, let's stop it. Ming can do just about everything Dunleavy can, and is 8 inches taller to boot.

wow such passion! Very good post and welcome by the way. I dont know which set of bulls fans that have been speaking to on a daily basis but i can tell you the way i feel. If Houston decides to take williams and go for a trade, i have alway said you take the next best player. Ming would be it. The dunleavy discussion on here from my side of view is if we get williams with the #2 and some team really wants him bad, then we could trade williams for dunleavy and a very good player. I think you find here on this board any way the pct of people who think the bulls will pick dunleavy with the #2 pick is very low.

Once again thanks for your take on Ming!!

We won't have the opportunity to take Ming. Houston is not going to pass up a potemtial franchise player at center. If we didn't have Curry and Chandler, I'd want him bad, but we do, so I am not worried about our center situation and neither are most Bull fans. If Ming does fall to 2, yes you take him, and worry about it later. That high in the draft, you go for the best talent regardless of position if there is a real difference and that high, there usually is.
It's a moot point as Ming is going #1. No doubt about it.

I remember I saw Yao Mings play one time back in the Olympics it take me a long while to remember but I got flash backs

But anyways I can't see Houston pass up Ming they desperatly need a center and they are no other centers are avialible most of the centers are getting old and begin or already washed up like Ewing, Mutombo(Getting old and getting down the drain a bit.), Hakeem. And that is it and we all know Shaq is UNTOUCHABLE.

So I can't see Houston trading the #1 pick I can see take Ming as the #1 pick........The only way Ming slip down is if China and Houstons begin to have bad terms and force Ming to slip down or the governament of China to have Ming shipped back in China which I really hope not then maybe a trade to the pick or Yao slipped down.

If Yao slipped down I will pass that opportunity why because I think in my view Yao is much bigger risk then some or most players in this draft even though you had to take risk to get a success team.............BUT WE ALREADY DID THAT LAST YEAR DRAFT DRAFTING TWO HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS. I don't want to take another risk I rather draft a best player that is the most NBA ready and my highest in this year draft is Jay Williams.

Beside I say time after time in other message boards we don't need Yao we already set in our front court depth already just need to add a veteran back up PF and C thats all. Need to upgrade our back court depth that is another reason why I don't want Ming in the Bulls uniform.

Pduh, I agree that life will be easier if we don't have an option to get Ming. Who knows if we will have another opportunity to get someone the caliber of Jay WIlliams for quite some time.

Geez, you make him sound so tempting! After reading this, what chance does GS have of slipping in and grabbing Ming with the #3?

None?

Thought so.

GSW... always the ugly girl, never even the bridesmaid
