What's wrong with the Pistons? I thought SVG was supposed to cure all woes. Besides Drummond was supposed to be an all star. I really don't keep up, so was curious.

We still can't shoot, we still play Smith/Monroe/Drummond all at the same time, Augustin is our best PG, and Smith still plays like an asshole.

Nice W. Starters looked good.

Poor Stan stuck with Josh Smith.

I will take the win, but did not like the reduced rotation Thibodeau used.

Gasol again played a lot of minutes, even though Noah was back. Mirotic and McDermott only played sparingly.

In the defense of Thibodeau, Gasol is playing really, really well. The Bulls seem to have a great 3 big man rotation with Noah, Gasol and Gibson.

This was my initial reaction as well. I hate to focus on the negatives, but I am concerned Thibs is already overworking Pau. Also didn't like the fact we had a 19-pt lead and then went on that cold streak with minimal adjustments; Thibs just kept the starters out there and let their play their way out of it. We nearly lost the game as a result. McDermott & Mirotic at 10 minutes combined is borderline criminal; IMO we aren't winning jack unless one or both of those guys step up as a consistent contributor in the rotation.

Though to be fair to Thibs, at this point in the season I imagine priority #1 for him is building chemistry among the starters, especially since this was their first regular season game all playing together. Maybe once that starts to build, he will dip into the rotation more and get the young guys some run. Just really not a fan of the short leash he's had on M&M...it's like one mistake and they're pulled.

I have zero problems with Pau getting 35 MPG. Gasol himself says he wants 30-35, ideally. And he is playing great ball, giving the team a true post dimension, jump shooting, and incredible shot blocking. He's #3 in the league in blocks!

Buckets I would like to see less of. There isn't any reason McBuckets couldn't have spelled him for an additional 5 mins in the second half.

Van Gundy is just throwing Drummond to the wolves right now. This is a lost season. When one of the team's primary tactics is to feed a big man that doesn't have a post game... well...

So this apparently wasn't intended to be a winning season, Van Gundy has some very nice looking pieces, but a lot of cancer to excise. He's going to put us through some shitty basketball before putting the team together the way he wants. It's going to be a while before we can judge his ability constructing a roster, for better or worse.
