Joakim Noah has told teammates hes done with the Bulls

Quote:
The player was asked if Noahs feelings had anything to do with first-year coach Fred Hoiberg and the tension that developed between the two early in the season, when Noah lost his starting job. The player insisted that Noah didnt bring up the rift as an explanation for his desire to bolt.

What was offered up, however, was the notion that there seems to be a complete mistrust multiple players have toward general manager Gar Forman, with Noah leading that charge.

Quote:
According to the player, former coach Tom Thibodeau was always able to shield the players from the front office, having them buy into the idea that it was us against them.

However, Hoiberg was deemed a Forman hire, so that wall was very blurry.

What the players have been trying to figure out in building their relationship with Hoiberg has been exactly how tied the coach is with Forman.

They might not be as tight as everyone, including Gar, thinks, one league source said of the Hoiberg-Forman relationship.

That remains a very important issue moving forward for this team.

We know theres at least one assistant [coach] that tells Gar everything that goes on, the player said. Theres a lot of guys that have a problem with that, and not just Jo.

A lot of guys arent about to hit the free-agent market, however. Noah is.

The 31-year-old is coming off one of his worst seasons since he came into the league as a rookie back in 2007, averaging just 4.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, before facing season-ending shoulder surgery after just 29 games.

The numbers told only part of the story, however.

Near the end of training camp, Hoiberg announced that Noah would be coming off the bench. There was a back-and-forth concerning if Noah volunteered for that, with the big man vehemently denying that scenario.

The Noah-Hoiberg relationship seemed to be mending before Noah went down with the injury, but the Noah-Forman bridge remains broken unless there is a complete change of heart.

Noah, who is one of the more charitable players in the entire NBA, had become so annoyed with Forman that he actually turned down a chance to help Bulls Charities earlier this season. According to the player, Noah was approached by Leslie Forman Gars wife, as well as the VP of Bulls Charities to take place in some auction where he would have to ride around town with the winner or something like that.

Noah didnt like the way he was approached and pressured, so flatly said no.

Not like Jo at all, the player said.

There was no response from Noah after attempts were made to reach him on the matter. Forman also didnt respond.

But that also pulls back another layer with the Bulls that rubs players the wrong way. The feeling is there is no accountability with Forman because of the relationship he and his wife have with team president and COO Michael Reinsdorf and his wife, Nancy.

Nancy is the president of Bulls Charities and works closely with Leslie.

Its worth noting the team really nosedived defensively when noah was out .

Money is everything. If you give him 5 years 50 million, he will stick with Bulls.

Lakers will be interested in him. He is a low cost player.

This couldn't be further off base, I don't think. Jo grew up rich and has already cashed in one big deal. If he's telling people he wants to leave because the FO can't rebuild things, then he quite obviously isn't driven only by money.

I figure Jo either goes home (well, one of his homes) to NY or signs on with someone better than the Bulls.

It troubles me that Gar Forman is going to be in charge of moves this offseason when the players seem to loathe him and more and more indications keep leaking of a pretty cancerous internal team environment.

everyone has money this offseason and it only takes 1 team to like him or be shut out and have to throw money at a name ...i think noah gets paid a decent wage 10 mil. a season for 2-3 seasons

Gar so far has done nothing of note in free agency i dont see why that would change.

I don't think the Lakers are looking to sign 31 year old dudes to multi-year deals, at least I hope not

I agree, but that isn't what I was talking about. I think Noah will get decent money. I just don't think he will absolutely take the highest offer on the table. Noah seems to be a winning + lifestyle guy. I imagine he'd take less money (to some degree) to play for a contender and/or an interesting city than a crap team in a crap city.

Almost definitionally, Gar can't do anything meaningful this offseason via FA, because there isn't much of a FA crop available. But I agree in general there's no reason to believe Gar will be super effective in a general sense. I am quite ready for him to be shown the door, but apparently the Bulls aren't going to do that because his wife is friends with Michael Reinsdorf's wife and blah, blah, blah. Splendid.

Gar was brought here to be fired. He was a layer of protection for Paxson.

That, and the "right way" turned out to be the wrong way and Paxson tired of explaining his mistakes to the media.

Gar is a cagey snake as well, and seemingly has cozied up to Uncle Mikey(?).

Noah is one of the all-time great Chicago Bulls and obviously was a all-NBA type guy under the Thibs environment.

He doesn't want much to do with the GarPax without Thibs environment.

Looking at the ratings from last season, he's not alone.

Re: Joakim Noah has told teammates hes done with the Bulls

Given that Pau has made some comments that seem to indicate he'll be leaving as well, I wonder if the Bulls might try to build some sort of trade package for Brook Lopez based on the #14 pick and another decent piece or two in attempt to field a playoff team built around Butler, Lopez, and Rose next season.

I think there's a significant untapped seller's market out there for the next team that wants to unload a star, and Chicago may actually be best-served jumpstarting the rebuild by moving Butler for a monster package (if someone offers the right mix of assets), but I don't think the front office would do that in light of how things went with Thibs.

It will take more than 5 years $50 mill. Someone will offer more. A lot of money will be thrown around this summer.

I haven read any interest from the Bulls on Lopez. However, Brooklyn could be a place where Derrick could be traded to.

I read Bulls like Okafor. Fan base also like Biyombo, and Noel

Re: Joakim Noah has told teammates hes done with the Bulls

I love Joakim Noah, he may be my favorite current Bulls player, but I think he's going to get offered a decent amount of money on the free agent market and I worry that his knees won't hold up for the life of a 3 year deal. I'm certainly not going to be upset if he ends up coming back, but I'm not sure what that would mean for the direction of the team going forward.

Like i said before Noah is a player who can be so good sometimes and sometimes he just fucks up everything but i still want him to stay even tho now Lopez here ( I don't think Lopez is better) so we will see how things goes.
