Demar Derozan

Draft Express Profile

Looks like Derozan is waking up from his early season slumber.

Still hasn't made a 3 pointer this year

Re: Demar Derozan

Is averaging 10.6 points so far. Much better than earlier in the year where he had a couple games with only like 2 or 3 points. Has 17 so far against GT.

Re: Demar Derozan

Still disappointing so far though. I'm curious to see how he will perform in Pac-10 games, that is usually when the season really starts and you can start to evaluate a player and his season or progress.

Re: Demar Derozan

Definitely not NBA ready. Great athlete and he has a pretty nice mid-range jumpshot but isn't a threat to create off the dribble and doesn't even possess 3 point range on the college level much less the pro level. Would be very wise to return to school but because of his upside is likely to go in the First Round if he enters the draft this year. Needs to drastically improve ball-handling and outside shooting to ever make much of an impact at the next level.

Re: Demar Derozan

I mean honestly, a team would take him before Jerel McNeal? And yet there's Derozan on all the important mock drafts, and McNeal's sitting in the second round.

Those two aren't comparable though, McNeal is in his senior season whereas Derozan is a freshman, not to mention that their roles are different.

McNeal will be a 1st round pick when it's all said and done, his intensity, tenacity, defensive ability paired with much improved shooting is enough to be selected in the late 10s/early 20s despite his physical limitations. I wouldn't put too much stock into mocks yet, lots of basketball left to be played and the draft is four months away.

Re: Demar Derozan

I guess I'm just disappointed in Draft Express and Chad Ford for having McNeal so low and having Derozan so high. I mean I understand potential, but a guy has to show SOMETHING to get drafted that high. I have never championed an American player based solely on athletic talent and non-game skills, but that's what this Derozan hype is; I might have done so with Euros early in the decade who I had never seen play.

Re: Demar Derozan

Derozan made himself a lot of money the past 3 days. He averaged 21 points, and 5 boards a game to lead the Trojans to the Pac-10 tournament title. He hit 3 threes which is as many as he hit in the entire regular season.

Dude shut the **** up, give me 35 games and I could get hot a couple times. This guy's a bum, at least he is now.

Re: Demar Derozan

He was the best player in the entire Pac-10 tournament. I agree he isn't NBA ready I was just pointing out he was still considered a first round pick by many mock sites and then this stretch occurred. His stock went up the past 3 days. That doesn't mean I'm high on him as a player or anything. He needs major work on his range and his handle.

Re: Demar Derozan

I hope he stays and goes to the Lebron camp and improves. If he stays with Hackett, Lewis, Gibson, Washington and Sidney, they would be a Final Four contender.

Juniors [although Gibson is 23 now] and they get Alex Stepheson next year as a junior to backup Gibson and Sidney in the frontcourt. They are going to be loaded. By the way, that kid Marcus Simmons on SC is also a damn beast. 6'6, athletic and long. Tim Floyd can recruit.

If Derozen stays, next year SC will be 13 deep and start three seniors (who could be drafted in the 2nd round) with two NBA lotto picks in Sidney and Derozen.

USC (2009-10)
C – Gibson (6’9 Sr.)/Diarra (7’0 R-So)
F - Sidney (6’10 Fr.)/Stepheson 6’9 (R-Jr.)/Vucevic (6’10 So.)
F – Derozen (6’7 So.)/Hill (6’7 Fr.)/Washington (6’7 So.)
G – Lewis (6’5 Sr.)/Simmons (6’6 Jr.)/Johnson (6’6 Fr.)
G – Hackett (6’5 Sr.)/Donte Smith (5’11 Jr.)

They are going to be a nightmare next year.

Gibson's their best pro prospect IMO, that is until Sidney comes aboard.

There is something about him. He seems to get to a lot balls you don't think he should get.
